This has happened to me two times today. The wipers don’t seem to extend past the A pillar when operating but when I turn off the vehicle one does. I get out, close the drivers door and the wiper is in the gap preventing the door from closing. Anybody else have this happen?

Does this happen only when you turn off the truck, but leave the wipers on?

How the?

Are you stopping the wipers before you shut off the truck? That's what I always do.

Either way, I don't understand how this is happening after you turn off the truck. They shouldn't move if you shut it off with the wipers deployed. So are they changing position after you shut it off or something?

I think I left them on when I turned the Maverick off. It’s a hybrid. I’ve got to play around with it. I tried once and of course it was ok. The two times I didn’t it did what in the photos. It’s a year old and has 28,000 miles and has never done it till today. I’ll get it checked while under warranty. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this issue. Thankfully it hasn’t chipped the paint etc that I can tell.

Obviously, this ain't right and odd that it's only happening after you've had the truck for awhile. Otherwise, I'd say the wiper arm was installed incorrectly. I wonder if where the arm attaches to the motor knob is somehow stripped and no longer grips properly.

It happened to me once. If I remember correctly I turned my truck off while the wipers were on

I am going to say it is not a stripped wiper arm mount, the right wiper is way too far to the left also. Many on this site have complained about the wipers sitting up too far when turned off, you can push them down below the hood line, but when the key is turned on the move back up again even if you didn't activate the wipers. I finally found a way to keep them down, I bought a wiper arm puller, loosened each one & repositioned on the mounts, now they stay down below the hood when not in use.
