2023 Hybird Coolant Leak!

Took my two month old 2023 Hybrid back to my dealer last week due to my coolant reservoir being almost empty. It was with them for the day and got a call saying it all checks out. They had it up on the lift and couldn't find any leaks. The person on the phone said there could've been some trapped air or the top up got missed on the PDI. I am fairly confident it was full on delivery but I'll go along with it.

Fast forward to today after remote starting and letting it warm up for 10 minutes I go out to the truck and get a whiff of burning coolant. I looked in the engine bay and couldn't see anything. I got worried and thought "oh no maybe it's leaking into the engine through the head gasket". After dipping the oil and not finding any milkyness I then remeber the exhaust has a heat exchanger. I crawl underneath to find it and sure enough there some yellow/ green on the bottom of the heat exchanger.

I will be taking the truck back to the dealer to get fixed first thing tomorrow. Quite annoyed as this should've been caught last week when it was on the lift being inspected for coolant leaks.

Not that it helps the situation but good reads especially towards the end
Seems like om those they made a service part instead of replacing full exhaust ?

I posted this on the subreddit too and a few have mention that they had this work done recently and it's a drop in part now instead of a full exhaust replacement.

I tried to do a quick search earlier and still came up with a full exhaust on the maverick.
Can you share ?

Somewhat encouraging that it's not a full exhaust anymore.

If you have a Mav Hybrid and a coolant leak or smell of burning coolant, the very first place you should check is the heat exchanger. It is hard to believe these dealer techs do not have access to (or do not bother to check) a factory knowledge base.

On a related note, my old eyes find it hard to read the MIN and MAX lines on the coolant , so I just hit the lettering with a black sharpie.

Wait, that's not even where the leak was coming from right ? This looks like an attempt to somehow contain the leak to within exhaust and have the coolant burn off.

Please post (personal details scratched off) your work order. We must see this one.

Edit: they replaced everything rearward of that "patch"?

Here's another shot. They replaced the heat exchnager between the clamps but did a very messy job.

The clean looking image is what the underside is supposed to look like (tirm removed)
