2022 XLT TPMS Mystery

This year, I finally got around to buying some cheap steel winter rims for our eco-boost Maverick. No TPMS sensors on these, but I can live for a few months with the yellow light on. But after the tire swap, no yellow tire pressure warning light.

I checked the onboard diagnostic and it somehow magically shows the schematic of the truck with tire pressure numbers! How can it be showing tire pressure with no sensors?

Because you parked in the garage where the wheels are that have the sensors in them?

The TPMS sensor light has stayed off, even when driving a considerable distance. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the tire swapping technician somehow moved the sensors over from the summer rims to the steel winter rims?

They may have installed compatible TPMS in the steel wheels. The TPMS is attached to the valve stems. Check your invoice.

Or just call whoever did the swap? Even if their memory is foggy, they’ll know more about it than a bunch of strangers on the internet.

Mystery solved. As soon as I pulled onto the highway today, the TMPS light came on and the little window with the warning about tire pressure. New mystery would be why it took 3 days for the system to notice the sensors weren't sending a pressure signal....
