I just noticed these deep scratches around the bezel and outer surface like someone was trying to remove the button???😱

the only service I’ve had done was the airbag replacement in May. But I can’t figure out why that would’ve been touched 🤔

Sounds like this is another area for an aftermarket trim piece. Still waiting for my truck.

Not so far. That doesn’t look good. Like old like something was dragged across repeatedly

I hope you don't catch the wife's cat doing this again. It will be a tough decision between keeping the Maverick with no more scratches or the marriage!!;)😃

I have the exact same scratches on my 22 Lariat. The truck has 10,000 miles on it. It was delivered last November after waiting 14 months. I can’t think of any specific reasons for the scratches except fingernails.!

My first thought was fingernails, but maybe forgetting it's a button and trying to jam a key in?

🤔 I don’t recall these scratches being there after taking delivery from the dealer. It’s just so puzzling as to the cause. I watched a video showing airbag recall/replacement and it doesn’t show anything in the area that would cause those scratches. And my fingernails are trimmed short 🤣👻

No one tried to pry anything off. The pattern on those scratches is clearly something headed toward the button and missing by a little bit. Something small and light like a fingernail or something held in the hand while pushing the button. Notice how most are close to the buttons edge then some radiated out all the way to other trim pieces close by. You've got a half decent aim 😉. Other users pics are supportive of thia theory and likely that trim piece is soft or painted with something soft.

I think you've been cruising the forum too much and reading too many service dept nightmares. Your brain is overlooking the obvious.

Diagnosis "PBSS" - Problem between steering wheel & seat. Owners discretion to replace that part. Now this really becomes a fun post of you reply and tell us you're not the primary driver 😁.

Fingernails or a ring?

The Maverick interior is not the best quality and scratches very easily.

I've seen brand new ones on the lot with multiple big scratches on the door panels and the sides of the front seats.
