I do love my Hybrid XLT - heck, I ordered it. If I could do it all over again, I’d get the Lariat and pay the dealer to replace the pleather seats with cloth. (Pleather it was caused me to go with the XLT - pleather is hot and sticky) I’d get it fully loaded and the FX4 package (which would include the 2.0 ecoboost). I drive less than 7,000 miles a year. The hybrid saves me about 20 dollars a month in fuel costs versus the ecoboost.

I’d put on the biggest turbo that I could sneak past CARB and enjoy doing 0-whatever. This is the most anemic vehicle I’ve had since my 1978 Pinto. Well not quite true, it’s definitely not as quick as my 69 GTO OR MY 97 Z28.

weird. I see you're in California which probably still has pretty inflated valuation of hybrids.

my advice is to sell your hybrid soon to get the most value you can, and buy an ecoboost fx4 4k tow.

I have a Lariat hybrid and I live in AZ. Windows are tinted and I definitely use the windshield shade in the summer but I don't find the seats to be sticky at all. I also tend to remote start to cool a bit before I actually get to the truck if it's been outside all day. It has plenty of power for what I need. Passing and getting on the highway is no problem at all.

The Explorer has the Active-X "leather" and I can tell you the Maverick's Lariat "leather" is a lot softer and feels a lot nicer. This is subjective on my part, obviously, but the seats in my Maverick are likely the nicest ones I've owned. The Explorer has that plasticy feel that I can understand if you avoided the Lariat assuming that was what Ford used.

And the color grows on you. It looks worse in pictures than in person.

I agree with commadorebob about the "Active X" fake leather in the Lariat. I also own a BMW X3 with very nice leather, and owned my share of cloth seats.
Active X is best of all. My concern was it might feel like vinyl seats. No comparison. NOT hot or sweaty ( I live in Houston, I know about heat) and surprisingly soft.
While waiting on my Hybrid for 10 months.....I WAS concerned about the seats not being comfortable. What was initially a worry turned into one of my favorite things about the truck. Plus, no matter how much you like cloth, you can wipe away most any stain from the Active X. That is a big reason I like leather or the Active X in a vehicle.
As a side note, I had to replace the front captain chair seat covers in my RV. Cheap "pleather" was peeling off the backing after just a few years. The person that I bought the covers from built them from "Ultra Leather". I suspect this is the same material Ford calls Active X or similar. I was amazed at how much more comfortable both in feel and breathability compared to the OEM seat covers the Ultra Leather was.

I second what you wrote. I find the ActiveX pleather in both my '22 Lariat EB and 24 Lariat hybrid comfortable - it breathes. I can definitely tell the difference in acceleration between the two but the hybrid does just fine merging onto the freeway and getting up to speed. At $5/gallon, I like seeing 42+mpg.

Sounds like you're a Ranger Raptor kind of guy. Maybe it's time to trade up.
