I have a 2022 Maverick Hybrid. I picked it up on 2024, and it currently has about 45k miles. Over the past 10 months I had taken it into the Ford dealership and they replaced 2 separate Ignition Coils (1 per visit). I was under Ford's warranty for the first replacement, and under an extended warranty for the second replacement. I was just wondering how common this type of issue is?

Full disclosure, I am not extremely knowledgeable with automobiles, but the last 2 vehicles I have owned I had for over 10 years each and I can't remember having to have an ignition coil replaced on either (to my recollection).

If an automaker has been buying ignition coil packs from a known supplier and has a track record for quality.
Now, a new supplier of ignition coil packs shows up and offers the automaker coil packs say 25-99 cents cheaper per coil.
Said automaker will go with the cheaper brand, accepting some failures.
If the motor in your Maverick was built, with ignition coils that may have came out of the same box that had some bad coils. It seems reasonable that two of them could have made it into your Maverick.
Good luck in the future.
