Considering I have the above Yr/Make/Model

I would like to get some more ground clearance for when I’m bird hunting in the winter on rural roads covered in snow and muck.

At some point I’ll add fender flares and potentially a lift (non-spacer). But for now I’d like to pick up as much clearance as I can with just a tire, that won’t break the bank.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a new tire to replace the 225/55R19? I’d like to stay as narrow as possible so it has the most minimal impact on MPG?

And just FYI my main use of the truck is a 5 day a week year round commuter of over 3 hours round trip each day. So MPG is still very important, and I may swap tires in the winter.

I bought a set of steelies and mounted P245/75Rx17 all terrain tires to give me better clearance and fill fenderwells. No rubbing of any kind and may mileage has remained the same,44 mpg.

The main issue with the 19 inch spec is that for reasons I assume would be related to the sidewall height, Ford spec'ed an "extra load" tire fitment. Makes a difference in the way the tire responds to handling inputs so, be aware.

This. Don't compromise fuel economy on your daily commute for the few times a year you'll be doing trails.

PS I have the same as you and don't understand the post about XL tires possibly compromising handling. Feels perfectly normal to me ...

I don't do trails, and it's not a few times a year. I'm actually on unpaved roads daily during my commute. And in the winter they don't get touched by plows at all. So I'd prefer some lift, even if it's only an inch or two for the slush build up in the middle of the road. I also currently bottom out coming out of my brothers drive if I don't keep my wheels cut and I know I won't be able to enter some driveways when I'm hunting as well. So while I like the aesthetic of it riding a little higher, it's also a needed piece of functionality. And I'm over 6'2 and it would making getting in and out slightly easier as well. I'd prefer to stay at 225 but know today's manufactures don't make any 225/65 or 70 19's for trucks that I know of. Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it.

That is the size I’m going to switch to!

Will let me keep my wheels which I like. Will raise my “lowered” Lobo by a half inch but fill the wheel better. Will overstate my mpg by a bit which will give me false happiness;)

Is there are reason you wouldn't go with 235/55R19? I'm guessing MPG would be effected slightly less and the diameter would remain the same.

Just because is the biggest you can go without any lift, if you gonna put some money in 235's (having 225's already) it's better to go with an extra inch 245's

235/60R19 and Rough Country 2.5" full suspension system. I'm running 255/50R20 and they do adversely affect mpg a little. Especially at the door placard recommend inflation pressure of only 36psi. Also, if you plan to drive on trails, you are better off going with 17" tires for sidewall height in an AT tread. For my winter tires I selected 235/75R17 Hankook AT2 and the aforementioned Rough Country lift.

Are those just a tad big and might rub?

Correct me if i am wrong but 235/55 19 seem just right.
245's is a very popular size for a #beefy look

If you're concerned for the MPG keep the 225's
245's will look way better

I ran a set of 245/55/19s on my old Edge wheels, which I had in the shed. I only dropped 2 or 3 mpg, and the ride improved.
