Hi all,

I have an extra set of Konig 18x9 38mm offset wheels that I used for my Focus ST as track wheels. I have since sold the ST and have these wheels sitting around - thinking about putting winter tires on them but was wondering if the 9in wheels are too wide for the Mav. I have 22 XLT hybrid.

Looking at fitment calculators, they will be 1in closer to the suspension using 235/55/18 tires which concerns me. 235 is the smallest tire I can go with a 9in wheel. Just seems like I'm stretching it here (ha).

Thanks for your help!

Your tire walls should be wider than your rims to prevent roadrash issues. With 9" rims you're going to need about 255/40 width tires to do that, and they definitely will not fit even with a 2" lift. Sell the rims.

Yeah probably best to get some 17x7 like stock and put winter tires on those. Thanks

The only response that matters lmao. You're one of the few people I love following on this site. You know your stuff! 💪

People on this site continuously amuse with their input yet lack of knowledge. "Your tire walls should be wider than your rims to prevent roadrash issues" I had stretch on a majority of my wheels on my Focus ST and never had "road rash". Our truck looks great with a little meat though.

Glad they fit, but is that wide of a tire good for winter? Seems like they should put summer tires on these rims and maybe the winter tires on the stock rims.

Wow awesome thanks for the info. I would probably go 245/55/18 as I'm not trying to poke out too much and still retain relatively the same circumference.
