these trucks come with semi metallic pads. absolute junk in my opinion. first thing i always do is swap to ceramic pads. I like powerstop. $40 on Amazon and took 15 minutes to swap. A dealer charging $800 for a pad slap per axle is asinine.

Not selling the truck just frustrated with the dealership.
The new service stated there is warping and glazing then the service manager calls me back when I asked for it in writing and said everything is normal and it is supposed to grind.
Who is not being truthful?
I need to take it to a different dealer.
Ford was no help as they never replied to my question of what is acceptable for noise from the brakes.
Go figure.
Need to deal with it soon since 3 yrs will be up in October and less than 20k miles.

My other car sits outside for 4-5 days at a time. When getting in, the first few brakes you hear grinding of sorts as the rust gets knocked off. This is normal behavior.

If you inspect your brakes, pull your finger over your rotors and feel. They should be very smooth. If there are grooves worn in them that would indicate an issue with the calipers/pads interacting with the rotors themselves.

15k miles is very low for needing new pads. Normally, needing new pads is indicated by a high-pitched "squealing" of sorts during braking.
Of course, be sure to let them cool down before touching them.

Definitely get a second opinion. Honestly, I'd take it to a tire shop like Les Schwab or Discount and have them look at it before I take it to another dealership. If they concur then you go the dealership route with the warranty work. The FORD account on here is a data collecting social media bot. They will do nothing of substance for you other than point you to the closest dealer once they have all your information.

It sounds like you don't drive very much though, so it could just be surface rusting and if that's the case - totally normal and will cause some noise when stopping until that surface rust is no longer present. Keep in mind the rotors have tiny grooves so it can take a good drive with some stops and heat to remove it. But less than 20k in 3 years is a very minimal amount of driving and that sounds like a very likely cause especially if there is condensation in the air where you live. Since you list Oregon as a home state - likely not far fetched either.

Again, without some good pictures this is all just guess work.

Were you able to put the brakes in "maintenance mode"? with the sequence of buttons in the truck.
I sure hope so. Because when I get around to it I would like to use the procedure used in the Ford Escape (I believe that was it on youtube).

I only have 1600 miles right now.
Haven't found anyone doing break job on youtube for the maverick using "maintenance mode" pushing a set of buttons in the maverick. Maybe soon.

Ford Maverick 15,000 miles and the brakes grind. {filename}
WARNING: Service actions on vehicles equipped with electronic brake booster without activating the brake system service mode may result in unexpected hydraulic brake application or a false leak detection DTC. This will significantly reduce the performance of the brake system. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
Brake service mode is also known as brake maintenance mode.
NOTE: Prior to carrying out the brake service mode activation steps below, clear all EPB and EBB related DTCs.
NOTE: Carry out the following service mode activation procedure to deactivate the EPB and EBB systems.
NOTE: This mode is required to deactivate the brake boost and allow the entire brake system to bleed manually.
NOTE: This mode will cause all the associated brake warning indicators and text messages to appear.
  1. Set the ignition to ON.
  1. Press the brake pedal and release the EPB .
  1. Release the brake pedal.
  1. Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB switch.
  1. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
  1. Set the ignition to OFF then release the accelerator pedal and EPB switch.
    • NOTE: The brake system will be deactivated, preventing brake application until service has been completed and service mode has been deactivated. The yellow EPB indicator will be illuminated and Maintenance Mode will display on the message center.
    • NOTE: When replacing brake pads in service mode, the brake caliper piston must be compressed into the caliper housing. The brake caliper piston does not have to be rotated while compressing the piston.
Deactivation
NOTICE: The brake system performance will be significantly reduced when the brake system is put in service mode.
NOTE:
Carry out the following Brake Maintenance Mode deactivation procedure to activate the EBB and EPB systems.
  1. Set the ignition to ON.
  1. Press and hold the accelerator pedal.
  1. Place the EPB switch in the apply (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.

  1. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds, then release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
    • NOTE: Once the ignition is set to ON, the EPB system will immediately apply and release the parking brake to guarantee sufficient air gap between the rear brake pads and brake disc. If the EPB switch is not released prior to completion of this sequence, it will apply the EPB . The EPB will have to released prior to moving the vehicle.
    • NOTE: When Brake Maintenance Mode is deactivated, the Yellow Parking Brake and Red Brake Warning Indicators turn off and "Brake Maintenance Mode" no longer displays in the message center.
