Dang folks, it is an inexpensive truck designed for good mileage, a pleasant ride and a weekly trip to the dump. For under $22k. Forget about the glitches and desires for upgrades. Go for a full blown F-150.
To hopefully add to the discussion: 2 weeks ago I had installed studded Sumitomo Ice Edge tires. Full blown snow tires on my 23 maverick hybrid. Overkill? Maybe. But Maine has predictably heavy snow.
So far no noticeable decline in my average 44 mpg. A bit noisier.
Amazing the technology changes over the last 3 decades. Some of us remember the startup wisdom of earlier days. 20w30. Start, idle for several minutes while the oil warms and circulates. And then drive.
Maverick hybrid XL. āA good inexpensive truck that gets great gas mileage!ā
Thatās why I bought mine and couldnāt be more pleased. 44.1 mpg and all systems work.
I find my Maverick to be very bland in appearance. I want more chrome! Iāve thought about those stick-on wide chrome strips to brighten the lower panels. Does anyone have recommendations on this other side of the issue?
In Maine we take care of any thefts ( gasoline or others) in our own way. Everyone knows everyone, at least in our small towns. Except our big city of Portland. 140,00O people. Way Too big to know each other. I would never live there.
Mavericks are beginning to show up. I saw one like mine...
Same great mileage here. Until I loaned it to a friend for long distance weekend moving. Dropped to 43.6 mpg since. He must have aggressively driven āsportā. Iām Now trying to nurse it back above 45.
Delete prior mpg and reboot is not an honest approach for me.
If you loan your truck give...
Ha, I agree with the thoughts on not accurately judging the space in front of the Mav when parking . I leave the truck and sigh at not pulling up far enough.
Beware of wiper scratches. At 7000 miles my Maverick is developing that āhazeā from wiper swipes. Soft glass. Make sure you never turn on wipers on a dry windshield!
