Maybe a threaded insert can be installed? Doing this would be a rabbit hole you can't climb out of without replacing parts. I also wonder if this connection point in the truck is intentionally weak for the air bag?
One might think this, but it is the compressor. Electric compressors ramp up and down unlike the traditional belt driven compressors. From inside the cabin the sound is hardly noticeable. The cabin fan is, well, in the cabin. Anyhow, in a number of weeks I hope a different compressor quiets...
The Comma 3X is compatible with several Ford vehicles (according to the Comma website). Maverick is one of the vehicles providing it is properly equipped. My '22 is with the Latest Luxury package. This is an interesting bit of kit.
Fans can be loud, but a fan blowing air doesn't make ungodly noise. If it does then something is wrong with it's motor. My previous F150 would sometimes kick its fan into high gear and yes, it was "airplane" loud.
I experienced sudden hard braking when going very slow or when slowly coming to a stop. I've found that shifting to LOW prior to stopping makes for a smooth slow stop. Something to do with the regen and electric motor I suppose. The truck has a quirk or two with this being one.
My AC is ungodly loud. (Search for ungodly to read the thread) It isn't normal. It is unacceptable. I've taken it the dealer. They're going to replace the compressor. It is on back order. Hopefully a different compressor will be quieter. This ungodly sound isn't the fan. If yours is like this...
Update: took the Maverick to dealer for oil change. They investigated the ungodly loud AC. They said on the service record: "Confirmed concern. Excessive noise present with AC on. A whining/grinding type noise can be heard from AC compressor. No TSB/SSM related. No DTCs related. Checked AC...
The Maverick is at the dealership for an oil change and to investigate the ungodly loud AC. I just received a message from them. The confirm it is the AC compressor making the loud noise. They're going to replace it, but the three part is back ordered. Results of this swap will be a month or so...
You think this is the fan? Could be I suppose. The fan is right there where the sound comes from. Fans can make a lot of noise, but I've never heard one make such a gawd awful sound.
The hood being up has nothing to do with this. It's up just to frame a picture of where the sound is coming from. The sound comes from under the hood, not the hood hence the hood is up. It's just as loud with the hood closed.
I don't see many Mavericks so I haven't had the opportunity to...
My opinion is that the loudness is abnormal. My F150 Powerboost isn't loud like this at all. I doubt there is little difference between the Maverick and F150 hybrid's AC systems. I'll wait to hear the dealer's say. Too early to get bent out of shape over it.
