Yes, the self adhesive strips need to go on bare clean paint for maximum adhesion. My hood protector (the one without the deflector lip) came with instructions stating to clean with provided alcohol wipes (I think is what they were) to remove wax etc.
I found my hubs had some light surface rust on 'em (new!), and that was very noticeable with the steel wheels/no center cap. I scrubbed the corrosion with a 3M Scotchbrite pad & WD40, then sprayed the hub recess with anti corrosion compound. Will do it again in spring. They use lots of salt...
That is really impressive fuel economy. In city driving, we're finding the Maverick is getting close to same or better fuel economy than the wife's '20 Corolla. That's pretty impressive IMO. Our fuel economy suffers huge in deep winter (woke up to -31C this morning). Best fuel economy I've...
Have you talked to a dealer about this? I've had my Maverick a couple months already, and aside from an Android Auto glitch (like one single evening), my infotainment system touch screen has worked well, none of the issues you report.
I had a glitch tonight with Android Auto, running Google Maps and YouTube music simultaneously. The screen went to sleep! I tapped it like you would a phone screen, and it woke up! Also Maps froze at one point driving tonight. These are the first issues I've had with AA using it in the Maverick...
I posted this up in this similar thread... made a RAM mount block for the cubby:

Good morning and Merry Xmas. I ordered this the day I bought the truck, Oct 15th so took just shy of 2 months to arrive (was backordered). It's the soft trifold Ford P/N VNZ6Z-99501A42-A

I just told them I wanted...
I made a plywood block to fit inside the cubby, to adapt a RAM mount for a smartphone & tablet holder. I shaped & tapered the block accordingly, slightly undersize, and sealed it with epoxy finishing resin. I gave the block a couple of wraps of electrical tape before jamming it in there...
Sorry man, I disagree. A basic infotainment screen it may be, but I've had zero issues in two months and 2,000+ kms of use. No issues with anything on the truck actually.
I've had my Maverick 2 months/2000 kms, Android Auto has worked fine (so far). I've noticed connecting seems to turn Bluetooth on the phone automatically! I'm new to the AA experience, am wowed by the connectivity, hands free phoning, voice command, streaming music, etc. Hope you get it all...
I listen to YouTube music thru Android Auto - works well. Kind of nice using voice command (play next) to advance thru a playlist, or the radio tuner forward button also advances to next song... pretty slick actually.
Edit... can listen to the YouTube music app playing in the background, while...
I was thinking of connecting LED lights there in the back. I've got a tonneau cover, could use some light back there. I wonder how much a 2nd wire harness like that costs?
Great video - Thnx for posting that up! I've had my Maverick for 2 months already, and learned something important about the system watching that. I didn't know about the button on the LH turn signal stalk to turn the lane keeping assist ON/OFF.
I did catch an error in the video tho - at...
I'm watching how our local dealerships are doing it - they're advertising inbounds that they pre-ordered, and most sell before they arrive. I snagged one of the very first to arrive, that wasn't spoken for. I called at just the right time, got first test drive. I actually put a deposit down...
I was at the Ford dealer yesterday that I bought my truck from, had a tonneau and hood protector installed. I had a good chat with the salesman that I had, asked him how Maverick sales are going. He shared that what they are getting in, were dealership pre-ordered a while back, and, they are...
Just had the hood protector dealer installed today. It's winter here, and I don't have a garage - they charged me only $60 to install it, and a soft folding tonneau. Nice fit, matches hood contour perfectly, looks good IMO...
