I suspect there were a lot of orders for black. I just don't think they photograph well. But, for us, we've already had our quota of black vehicles, and we're over it.
What I mean is that new vehicles are hard to find. New vehicles like the Maverick don't exist. What are you willing to compromise on in order to buy something you didn't want to start with?
Hate to say it, but that's a concern. My 2017 Toyota was rear ended a couple of years ago. It honestly just looked like very minor damage, but it turned out that between the rear bumper and the rest of the car, there are...sensors and stuff. Damages were something north of $2,000.

That's my guess too. But if the dealership won't admit it, then they've left their customer in limbo. The screenshot of the VVR is a backdoor way to see what's what.
