Thanks.
I think this is a first purchase let alone a first truck for a lot of people. They act like I said their baby is ugly. I'm excited about this little truck and it will be quite functional once I fix it up the way I want it. Thought this is what forums are for not just to validate some...
FYI this is my 10 year old ram and believe me I have loaded this thing to the brim with lumber without ruining the tailgate. It actually sits a tad high. I didn't have my level handy but you get the idea.
Ford makes trucks and they are wholly focussed on this market its not a mater of "now they know", they know how a truck is used. It is an error and maybe they don't think it needs to be fixed. I will figure out a fix either way. No offense taken, you are right.
Just get two heavy people to sit on the tailgate and see if the slack comes out. There is a surprising amount of flex in the tailgate. I have seen this on other trucks.
Mine seam slightly different. If anybody is having this issue they should try swapping them and see if it is the same side that sags or opposite. I could be that some of the fasteners are slightly out as well. Unless this is drastic I would say it's less of an issue.
Colorado forum, they had an issue with cables being different lengths and the tailgate sitting high. In short chev did nothing to resolve it. So I would say that best case is that future cables will be corrected and we may be able to buy them...
True, the fact that people feel the need to chime in just to say that they don't care or that I am nit picking or over reacting is a sign that our society is obsessed with internet fighting. I was just putting this out there to find solutions to a limitation with the way this truck functions. I...
I sent the pics to my dealer and asked if he could get an answer from ford. Maybe a waste of time but would be nice to know what they would say if anything.
Now that I think of it you should only need to make 1 bar length and use it in place of the cable in the same fashion. But you would want to replace the cable for every day use. To change it out you would need the appropriate wrench handy as well with some time to spare. But it is a back up plan.
Funny when I google the problem without filtering for Maverick specific topics you get issues with cables being too short mostly, so that blows the whole "taking the weight of the gate argument". Maybe cable companies can't read drawings?
