The crossovers for the tweeters arenāt adjustable unfortunately. Yesterday I added some boom mat sound deadener to the underside of the tweeter grilles and also put a piece of 1/2 oz felt on the opening right above the tweeter. That seemed to help. Still have good detail on the highs but the...
So they didnāt give my an itemized break down on the price of everything. Iāve got the speakers, sub, sub box, similar priced amp, locās, 4 gauge amp wiring kit, and rcaās in my crutchfield cart and itās about $1100. Iām missing the speaker wires and possibly some other misc installation gear...
Yep those are the ones I have. I noticed that on crutchfield too, not sure what they did. Iāll update here when I take the doors apart to add the deadening. I just went with a small downfiring box on the floor behind the front seat. Didnāt want to lose the tubs under the back seat.
I went by the shop again friday after work. Decided on alpine type s component set for the front, type s 2 way rears, 10ā alpine sub, phoenix gold 5 channel amp. On the shops recommendation I decided to skip the dsp for now and just use line out converters. Had it installed today. Overall Iām...
That Makes sense. Iām getting a lot more volume out of the rear of the cobalt compared to the maverick. I may try speakers first. But at this point Iām leaning towards a decent set of fronts, tweeters, amp. Iām going to stop by the shop again tomorrow after work, and see what they say.
Ok so if I were to just add speakers it wouldn't be a huge upgrade, but if I amp them, even with lower end aftermarkets it will sound much better than stock? Would that be fair to say?
I just sat in a few different cars and listened to some loud heavy metal.

Iāll be honest, Iām going to have to Google what sq sql and spl means š. The shop Iām looking at does lot of high end cars, Iām talking high end Mercedes, bmwās etc. theyāre very well regarded so I trust theyāll do good work. Iām a complete newbie when it comes to car audio, so Iām just wanting...
Thanks for the detailed response. The shop Iām looking at has already done a couple mavericks so no issues there, and Iām going to buy all the parts from them as well. I was asking for just a rough idea of what the labor might cost. I realize components can vary massively.
I mostly listen to...
I donāt have the b&o system. I think Iāll be going with the shop. If I was just swapping speakers Iād do it myself but Iām going to want more than just speakers. I donāt need a high end system by any means, but I want to get the most out of whatever speakers I get, so Iāll be doing an amp and...
Iām fairly mechanically inclined and I enjoy working on my vehicles but this is over my head. Iāve replaced speakers before but what Iām wanting here is more than Iām willing to try on my own. If I had more time Iād love to try to learn this but I just realistically canāt right now. I used...
Ok, that gives me a better idea. I figured it would be at least $100 per hour. Iām probably going to skip the sub for now and just do speakers powered by an amp with dsp. If I need more bass, Iāll add a sub later. Iāve seen a few people recommending audio control DSPās so I was looking at those...
Iām planning on upgrading my sound system. Iām looking at getting new tweeters, door speakers, rear pillar speakers, amp and DSP. I will be keeping the factory head unit. Iām new to modifying car audio so I have opted to have it professionally installed instead of trying to do it myself. Not...
Looks great! Do you have one amp powering the door speakers as well as the sub? Or are you still using the factory head unit to power the door speakers?
