  1. Other times Ford used Maverick name in the past

Came across this article while surfin' the internet. While many of us remember the car-based Maverick of the 1970s, Ford also used the Maverick nameplate elsewhere in the world from 1988 thru 1990s. And they were SUVs! Seems Ford used "badge-engineering" on two generations of Nissan SUVs that...
  2. Hybrid Catalytic Converter Theft

As I/we divert this catalytic converter thread further off course, here's something to consider: I used to sell auto/home insurance in the 1970s/80s. Back then your premium was based on type of vehicle, driving record, distance to work, home location, multi-car discount, etc, etc. Lower...
  3. Detailed Look & Description of Maverick Hybrid Undercarriage Bottom and Engine Bay

The guy seems to have a fairly good understanding of the Hybrid drivetrain and highlights some interesting points. Also points out unique components in the engine bay. Sounds like he's a dealer tech, and I laughed when he explains the special ⚡pole midway the video (ie open or closed casket )...
  4. Hybrid road test in city/suburbs review (Cars.com)

Just read this 12/21 review. Maybe of interest to you if you live/work in urban settings. They drove around Chicagoland, discuss maneuverability and parking, MPGs in mid-30s weather, etc. I found it interesting as the review somewhat mimics my normal vehicle usage and thought it maybe of...
  5. Savagegeese Hybrid XLT Review

Thanks for posting. First time I've viewed a savagegeese video and I like their style. Plus the driver drove the "HyBird" much harder than anyone else I've seen. Not than may of us will hammer on it often but you never know if you have to get to a hospital fast for a loved one ( or speed...
  6. Comparing Bed Measurements: Maverick vs Santa Cruz vs Ridgeline -TFL Video

Interesting comparison. I was considering the Ridgeline before ordering a Maverick. The Ridgeline is just too expensive and bigger than I wanted. The Ridgeline has more cubic capacity, but it should as its in a different class size-wise(ie Ranger). I felt after comparing the numbers between...
  7. A little Holiday Maverick Fun...

Very well done! It hits on many of the issues we are experiencing. Happy Holidays to Maverick2112 and all others who read this thread.
  8. Ben Hardy Review of Cactus Gray Hybrid XLT

Thanks for posting this review. I like we starting to see more reviews that aren't tied to the initial Oct 5th rollout, with real feedback from driving a Mav out in the wild. But these reviews still pale in comparison to the MTC reviewers we also now starting to get from actual owners who have...
  9. Generator Function / Large Inverter

I don't think the Mav Hybrid's Lithium battery is going to be easy to hack for your purposes. As others have said, a stand-alone generator would be MUCH more cost effective. Plus hacking could negatively affect the Hybrid warranty. BTW I've never heard of a Honda Prius. (sorry, couldn't resist)
  10. Enjoying my new Maverick Hybrid!!!!

LMAO! All you folks just crack me up. It can be frustrating waiting for our Hybrids, but threads like this almost make it worthwhile...almost. I can't wait to drive all over town just using reverse and watch my fuel gauge go up.
  11. Maverick and F-150 Lightning named Popular Science greatest automotive innovations of 2021

Sometimes "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" (Aristotle). Hopefully the Maverick is such a vehicle. I'm joking but the versatility of the Maverick seems to have struck a cord with many buyers.
  12. MotorTend names Rivian R1T Truck of the Year

Say it isn't so! Sadly the high-price Rivian was chosen by MotorTrend. While these awards are nice to see, it does not predict how well a particular vehicle does in the marketplace, or how long-term their reliability is, etc. See this attached article for more. I read many years ago that...
  13. Firmware update for radios (DIY how-to instructions)

Was surfing YouTube and came across this recent video. I don't have a Maverick yet so I'm not having problems with the radio (duh). But in the video this guy goes through the steps to check for updates, and claims he was able to update the radio's firmware. Hope this helps you folks that are...
  14. Did you receive notification when order is submitted by dealer?

I've read on this forum that to receive an order conformation email from Ford you dealership had to include your email address when they originally submitted the order. That may explain why some have received the Ford conformation email, and others haven't (if the dealership didn't include...
  15. Forbes names Maverick Car of the Year

I've always thought of Forbes being more of a financial/business magazine/website, but I guess they have a Wheels section. Today they named the Maverick their "Car of the Year". I guess they include all types of vehicles in their "Car" sector when awarding this title. Article mentions other...
  16. Trim comparison of XLT with Lux Pkg verse base Lariat (video)

From my limited understanding of the Lariat w/ Lux Pkg it seems you would already be getting both cab and bed upgraded outlets within the Lux Pkg. So I don't understand why there would be a separate charge for the cab's upgraded outlets (my order does not have such a charge). Also, from the...
  17. Ford Tonneau Cover received and installed

Looks like it fits well! How long did it take to install? I just have to mention: skimmed by the 2nd pic to see how taut it was when closed, and when looking quickly at the 3rd pic it looks like you installed a huge antenna. I had to go back to the 2nd pic where its folded open and saw it was...
  18. Recall Ford Escape & Bronco Sport rear brake pads

Here's another article on the brake system recall for Escapes and Bronco Sports. Still no word on IF it will affect any of the early-built Mavericks, but it does give manufacturing date ranges for the recalled vehicles. This article also discusses the brake vacuum sensor/brake vacuum booster...
  19. Trim comparison of XLT with Lux Pkg verse base Lariat (video)

Interesting video on these two trim choices. The reviewer is a bit over the top, but he does point out differences I hadn't seen before. Since I'm getting older I decided to go with the Lariat with Lux Pkg since I plan on keeping for many years, so increased cost is only a few hundred...
