Came across this article while surfin' the internet. While many of us remember the car-based Maverick of the 1970s, Ford also used the Maverick nameplate elsewhere in the world from 1988 thru 1990s. And they were SUVs!
Seems Ford used "badge-engineering" on two generations of Nissan SUVs that weren't imported to North America. There's also a blurb on late 1990s Escape-based Mavericks sold in Europe, but no detailed info.
Reading this just make me think "Huh? The Maverick name actually was used on a car...then a SUV...and now a truck".
Anyways, you folks can read much more in linked article. Its just some fodder for those waiting for our trucks to be built/delivered.
