My truck accessory place tells me that I need to have some sort of "special" side steps / running board for my hybrid. They tell me, they tried something typical on another hybrid and it wouldn't work. Something about the way things are configured underneath the truck.

They've not come up with an alternative that I can use. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

UPDATE
We found a set from "TAC" that would fit. And they look great

You need special bolts on the center passenger side

I ended up going with the gorhino dss sliders for my '25: if you check out the listings on realtruck, you'll see which are available when you select your hybrid from the drop-down menus.
initially, I was going to go with the aps boards, but after having the manufacturer totally drop the ball (the brackets were all simply placed in thin plastic bags with no other protection in the bag & when I got the box, the first 2 brackets I took out of the box/bags were totally scratched, dinged, etc)decided to tray another brand to see if the manufacturer packaging was any better.

My suggestion: running boards are not needed for something that has 8.3" of ground clearance. That's less than a typical Subaru.
my suggestion? what works for you & your tastes may not work for someone else:eek:pinions are like.......well, ya know...everyone has one & they're all different...

Thanks. I will take a look. And I wouldn't have refused to scratched up ones for sure.

I appreciate what you're saying, but I'm destroying the outer edge of the seat every time I get in and out of the truck. My legs are not long enough to reach. Besides, I'm probably going to put a little lift kit on at some point

I appreciate where you're coming from. But it's not a matter of the style that I like, I want to get something that will fit with a hybrid configuration

That's where I understand the problem lies

What about if you ran flatouts 3" lift with 245/60/18s?

This truck already has low ground clearance, and you are making it twice as low. You are pretty much getting rid of all your truck capabilities. It's just silly.

Are you sure it’s not the technique you’re using to get in and out? Yes, I’m a little taller than average, but I get in and out of my fx4 with 2” lift and 31” tires like it’s nothing. And that is 4” taller than the stock hybrid height.

Edit: Here’s a little food for thought. I used to have this Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It had a 4” lift kit, 1” body spacers and 38.5” tall tires. So that is 8.25” taller than stock. No running boards. No problem getting in and out. You use the door sill as a step instead of adding a running board and compromising ground clearance.
