Recently purchased TAC Side Steps Running Boards for my XL Hybrid.

Amazon.com: TAC Side Steps Running Boards Compatible with 2022-2023 Ford Maverick/Maverick Hybrid Pickup Truck 3" Stainless Steel Side Bars Step Rails Nerf Bars Off Road Accessories 2 pcs : Automotive.

After reviewing the instructions (attached), and getting under the truck, I'm a bit confused on the final configuration. At numerous points during installation, it talks about fitting the supports without fully tightening, marking the outlines of the supports, then removing the rocker panel molding and cutting away the marked areas. Since the panel clips are permanently removed, and the supports won't be contacting the molding, what holds the molding in place after installation?

If anyone has installed these or similar nerf bars, can you help me understand how this works? There are no videos that I know of that cover complete installation, and I find the instructions lacking in some parts.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi = did you get these installed? I was going to get them but these instructions look like a nightmare.
Haven't had much of a chance until last weekend because of the heat (it sucks living at the top of Satan's ass crack) and I think I was missing parts. I've contacted the company and we are working on a solution. And you are right about the instructions, they are a nightmare. When I get everything done, I'll post pictures.

I was looking at running boards/nerf bars too and I recall there are different brackets depending if you have hybrid or ecoboost so may want to double check that?

I just heard from the company and the instructions in the box were old and I didn't get the nut plates like I was supposed to. I'll double check when I get home and contact them for replacements.

Ah, the old missing nut plate; reminds me of my old dodgeball injury! 😨
