Hello everyone-

Recently I bought a used 2022 Hybrid and have fallen in love with the nimble, fun and function of what Ford created …

The Maverick is a unique vehicle that combines a lot of seemingly opposing attributes into a nicely balanced ride … it’s small but has great cabin space; it’s not pricey but also has a nice interior feel; it’s fuel efficient but is still zippy; it’s handling is sporty, but it’s an excellent road-tripper.

So my question to the group, is how much sporty handling am I sacrificing by having FWD and a 60 fewer HP with the hybrid vs the 2.0 ecoboost? It might be worth trading for a 2024 with the 2.0 Ecoboost?

Love to hear anyone’s input… thanks in advance for your

Sounds like you don't like the power of the hybrid. The ecoboost will have more power! I am constantly amazed at how much power the 2.0 has. Full disclosure, mine has a piggyback tune and some addons like intake and exhaust.

Whose tune did you use? I have used COBB in the past w good results (on a Subaru Ascent 2.5)

I drove both hybrid and 2.0...bought the Ecoboost XLT, Lux, FXR.

I like the peppy feel of the 2.0 with the 8 speed versus the 2.5 hybrid with the CVT transmission....I gave up fuel efficiency for the fun of driving...a good trade in my book.

A ton more torque available in the 2.0...I noticed no difference in AWD versus FWD other than the AWD felt "planted" (my sales guy was along for the test drives and he never cautioned me in the curvy mountain stretch that I drove...LOL).

The ecoboost is really a strong little engine.

Thanks … I am getting some wheel slip on wet pavement with the FWD hybrid. Concerned about traction in winter weather. Also looked at the COBB tune torque and HP improvement and it’s significant. Hmmm….

The eco has more power at 237 hp but the AWD hybrid would be my choice
A hybrid AWD is my wife’s strong suggestion also … she hates all things turbo, particularly if it can be tuned.

That's why I'm leaning towards a 2025 hybrid AWD. I know it won't have the power of the 2.0 bit the handling and ride will be better than the fwd.

The "277 lb/ft" feels great with this truck. Horsepower is always great but is torque is wonderful.

With a $600 COBB Accessport tune (done through the OBD port) torque goes well over 300 ft lbs… yikes.

I have a 24 Lariat Ecoboost and it can out race any Dodge Hell Cat anywhere any time but I like to lay low lol. Love the boost when you need a quick getaway.
