I finally fixed the audio quality in the Maverick. Complete speaker replacement and 10" sub install.

interesting, you were able to remove the trim rings from the original and your Hertz tweeters, and then put the Hertz tweeter in the factory ring to re-install it? that's pretty cool.

regarding the pre-built sub enclosure, I probably would use a ground shaker or sound decisions box at this point myself. I built my own box and shared the dimensions here, but it doesn't look anywhere near as good as sound decisions. there's a 3rd option for pre-built just coming onto the market now, I can't recall what it is offhand but you already bought the ground shaker so you're good, lol.
Funny thing you say that the OEM tweeter and the Hertz tweeters are both the same size at 3/4 of an inch. Sadly the OEM tweeters are glued to death in that snap together housing so there's no way to use it with a aftermarket tweeter as it would snap to pieces trying to disassemble it with all the glue they used.

What I did was I installed the trim ring that came with the Hertz tweeters, then wrapped them with 3/16 of Tessa tape which allowed them to sit snugly in the stock location without falling through or popping out easily. They sit firmly at the stock Twitter height.

Great install job, looks professional. The box may be overly expensive but having that exact fit is :chef's kiss:

that's the same thing I did with my tweeters... for some reason when I was looking at the pics on my phone I thought you'd managed to re-use the factory trim ring.

Trust me I tried for about 3 minutes and after seeing how much glue that was used when they sealed the factory tweeters into that snap together housing. I knew there was no way to do it without breaking the plastic in the 20 different pieces.

So I just installed the trim rings that came with the Hertz tweeters for flush mounting and used a little (3/16) Tessa tape wrapped around the body of the tweeter, which worked out perfectly.

The night I sat in my truck and turned the radio on for the first time I actually laughed. I think my 80's Honda had a better system from the factory.
I think there is a massive disparity between the speakers that are put in most trim configurations and the speakers that are explicitly put in as part of the Lariat Luxury package for model years 22-24 (8 speaker B&O system, including sub). It looks like all Lariats for 2025 get the B&O sound system now. I doubt they are of exceptional quality, but they definitely are well above average in sound quality.

I am far from an audiophile, but I definitely enjoy nice sound. My hearing is partly destroyed from years of police/911 dispatch followed by years of air traffic control after that; over a decade wearing an earpiece 10+ hours a day getting assaulted regularly with squelches, screeches, static, and feedback. So being able to hear clearly, with low distortion, and with a touch more volume than average is 95% of what I'm after.

last sentence, bold mine, it really depends on what you're comparing to with this statement.

are the B&O speakers better than the base speakers? yes.

are the B&O speakers better than non-premium audio in most vehicles? yes, as well.

are the B&O speakers 'well above average in sound quality' compared to ... well, nearly any aftermarket speaker?

no, they are absolutely not! pretty much anything I've ever heard or installed in the last decade, at any budget point, will give better midbass performance than the B&O 6.5 in the doors. if you care about sound quality, you absolutely should upgrade the front dash and door speakers (with a set of components) whether you have base or B&O audio stock.

I 100% agree with you about aftermarket. My metric of "average" is absolutely pertaining to the realm of factory-installed speakers for those of us that have no inclination to "bother" with aftermarket.

The B&Os are well above average factory installed speakers. Anyone who looks to aftermarket is someone who is looking for multiple standards of deviation better than "average" while I think many/most people are more than happy with 1 or 2 standards of deviation better. People can absolutely get massively better sound with a small amount of money and labor, but I think most (myself included) would rather pay the nominal upcharge to get considerably better sound.

My hope is that metra or someone comes out with a dash kit and wiring harness to add a aftermarket head unit like Kenwood, Pioneer or Sony to our trucks. As that would vastly fix the DSP problem with the Mavericks, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you, I was sure to take my time and wrap all the wiring in Tessa tape to keep everything as clean looking as possible. No colored wires sticking out everywhere or a sub box on the rear seat or floor.

My 2007 Hummer H3 had the best OEM system I've owned. It came with the monsoon system with OEM navigation that had 6 & 1/2" speakers in the front doors 3/4-in tweeters in the a pillars. Also 6 & 1/2" speakers in the rear doors, and a 8" sub in the cargo area, that hit great for a factory sub and amp.

I left all the door speakers stock and upgraded the OEM sub & amp with a 8-in kicker sub and a 250 watt kicker mono amp. I was surprised how much better the kicker sounded over the monsoon sub and amp. As the monsoon 8" sub hit pretty good.

I don't see us Hybrid owners being able to upgrade like this with a power amp because I have a stock Lariat w/o B&O and I have been through 4, 12 volt batteries in 13,000 miles and about to take it back to the dealer for battery number 5. The dreaded Deep Sleep Mode is back again. :(

Does anyone know of someone with a Hybrid that was successfull adding a power amp and sub?

Wasn't there a recent fix for this by adding like a AGM battery or something? I've saw a few users on here with the hybrids adding subs and amps under the rear seats without reporting issues.

Might be worth installing a battery capacitor for you hybrid owners, at least looking into.

Supposedly Ford is comming out with a fix which I think is another software update and is not available yet. There are some folks that said they bought their own AGM and it seems to work much better, but the dealer won't put one in. The only AGM in the size necessary for the Hybrid is from a different manufacturer.

I have not read any post of a Hybrid owner that has upgraded their audio like yours.
I guess I should search for that.
