I just think drivers In general are getting worse. All the anti collision crap on them are making people less attentive and numb to their surroundings.

Maybe this is by State/location, but here in MN, my dealer tries to add this as a $300 package to each to new vehicle sold. They installed it on my truck before even telling me about it, and I told them to remove it.In case you're one who may think more is better, it is against the law to do this to your main brake lights. Something about impersonating an emergency vehicle.
Please show it so we can seePeople just like my ass.
You ARE an overthinker but DOES make sense? So all, I was messing around in the garage and upon driving out noticed something.
When I hit the brake pedal the brake lights come on but after a bit of a delay. Also when letting off the pedal the lights stay on for a bit as well. Saw this in the mirror and reflections in the garage.
My theory is that when you step on the brake the signal has to be sent to the bcm, processed as pedal stepped on then sends signal to lights to turn them on.
It might be happening fast but maybe not fast enough to keep us from being tagged from the back.
Just my assessment and theory. Anyone have any thoughts on this. Check for yourselves, see what you think. I’m an old school driver and used to just hitting the pedal, closing the circuit and boom lights come on. Too much tech sometimes is too much.
I agree 100%. I at least double tap whenever I can.One tip they teach you when learning to ride a motorcycle is to tap-tap your brake to draw attention of drivers behind you. I do this when driving my truck as well...A few taps can attract attention. My Subaru came with this feature from the dealer, btw.
If you shine it up with Chemical Guys Synthetic Quick Detailer, anyone following you will be instantly mesmerized.I think people look at it and are hypnotized. They say look at the beautiful little truck with the offset license plate. It is just a wonderf---- BAM...you are rear ended.
Thank you. You are exactly right. And Mavericks aren’t involved in crashes over any other vehicle.I don't think that a slight delay in the illumination of the brake lights is the problem. I think that distracted driving is the problem, and driving a Maverick doesn't make the people behind us any more or less safe drivers.
When I'm in stop and go traffic, I use my flashers to get the attention of drivers behind me when there are red tail lights ahead of me. I keep an eye on my rear view mirror to determine if the following vehicle is slowing. So all, I was messing around in the garage and upon driving out noticed something.

Doesn't that interfere with the other brake lights? What bulb did you use? I Def like the idea. This might help: I put a 3 flash LED to replace the brake light located on the cab. I know some drivers might find this annoying, but that's sort of the point . . . attention. I've seen too many rear end videos on here and have been on a protect-and-prevent-mods-first mission. What a serendipitous post! Just earlier today, I was looking to buy something like this because to turn into my driveway, which is off a 55mph two-lane highway (so people are going 70+), you really need the person behind to see you.
I've had MANY encounters where to car behind me fails to see me slowing down then I have to ABORT the driveway turn and gun it to avoid getting hit. I think its mostly just distracted drivers.
