So if you forget and leave the light on, can it run the battery dead?
Not sure I haven't left it on. Let me head out to the garage and turn it on and see if it eventually turns off.
Ok I've turned it on and set the kitchen timer for 15 minutes to remind me to check on it.

EDIT: Instead of creating a new post every 15 minutes I will just update this one.

It looks like the bed lamp and reverse lights turn off by themselves within a 15 minute window because the timer just went off and when I checked the lights they are not on anymore.

Alright one last post then I'm out on this one. IMO this option should be installed at the factory. Yes I know there is supposedly one member here who did this but he never posted anything but pics and hasn't been back since.

Anyway, after poking around the Ford parts website I was able to track down the part number for the voltage converter and some parts associated with it. I was also able to find a crappy diagram on were the converter is located and some other parts needed to install it.

This is the voltage converter part # ML3Z-19G317-A

Here is the pic of the crappy diagram I found on Fords parts website. As you can see the voltage converter is located under the center console and has several other modules and brackets associated with its installation.

The 12v pigtails arent the best option - as it requires the truck to have been started within the last 15 minutes.

Scenario: you are walking up to your truck at night after being in class for an hour. you open your tailgate, press the button - fuck all happens. why? because you havent turned the vehicle to the "on" position within the last 15 or so minutes.

the pigtails are kinda shitty like that.

ive been asking the question and so far no one will respond to me.

"is there constant 12v in near the bed/taillights - if so what wires".

its not the pigtails.

So, there really is no way to get an inverter added to the rear of the truck bed.

It's like that for a reason. You don't want to come back to your truck to discover the local college kids hooked up something that drained your battery completely flat while you were away.

what if you have a device that has an auto shut off timer (like I do).

nomesayin.

the pigtails should come on when the truck unlocks - and then stay active for 15 minutes. they dont.

do you know what it is i am saying.

Not with out extensive tear downs especially if you want it to have a factory appearance. I mean just look at the parts diagram I post above. The factory convertor is located under the center console in the cab......

Adding some 12v options to the bed is easy because of the pigtail but the OP and this thread are about something completely different.

I've got an 400 watt inverter that fits perfectly into the cubby. It has a male 12v plug. I'm adding, (XLT no lux), a 12v plug to the cubby and I'll have an inverter in the cab.

What cubby are you talking about? Also adding a 12v convertor was not the OPs question. Getting a 110v outlet to the bed was.

Adding the 12 volt plug to the cubby is how to add a 400 watt inverter

I spent some time looking up these parts, it seems that most Mavericks have them in it, I can't find the bracket that holds the Inverter. But the price from Ford is 3 x that of the option price.
Are there other options to install an inverter than to pay the high price the dealer wants for one? BTW, MY 23 will have the factory inverter.

EDIT: Updated part #'s and photo's to include the power button for the lamp.

So here are the four part numbers I was able to find on the back. A Google search resulted in very little but when I plugged them into Fords parts website they popped right up. There might be more part numbers hiding but I didn't want to tear into it any further.

Anyway, I hope this helps. Here are the four numbers I found and a link to each on Ford parts website.

This is the cover part # NZ6B-16F105-BC
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/b...d-parts-general/cover-14199565-1#/partMatched

This is the charger/outlet part # NZ6T-19J289-AB

This is the lamp part # JL34-13D719-AA

This is the power button for the lamp part # NZ6T-14K147-AA
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/electrical/switches/steering-wheel-switch-14200249-1#/partMatched

Here is a pic of the four part numbers I was able to see easily but keep in mind there might be more. I have circled them in red for easier finding.

Here is a pic of the part # for the lamp power button. It was hard to capture because it's so small.
