hey- I am with you - there's always a deluge of people poking fun or telling us to get with it - ignore them and keep rockin'!
A lot of folks can't wrap their head around the fact that, some people do not have constant cell service or unlimited data plans. We still have landlines. I don't assume everybody does. I know better.
I thought I was doing good when I got rid of my old fashioned PC and laptop.
I have around 100 CDs.
It would take around 5+ hours to load those onto a flash drive, if I had a PC or a laptop, which I don't.
My wife's choir director gives them CDs to practice songs. Luckily her Escape still has CD player.

Exactly. And I stopped caring about what people thought about me by the time I was about 7. :}

Ya, I have a couple hundred cd's that I put on my iPhone and a flash drive. In case my phone won't work in the truck, have a flash drive ready to go. I'm 68, and I remember taking two transistor radios, some 12 gauge copper wire and made a very crude stereo head set back when I was about 10 years old. I remember as a freshman in high school my older brother bought a stereo for his girlfriend and I couldn't stop wanting to wear the headphones and listen to the 'stereo', so clean, up close.

Been meaning to post this. Back in June I finally decided to try one of these USB CD drive that I’d seen a few positive YouTube reviews on. I have a lot of cds and primarily do the majority of my listening to them in the car. So when I got my Maverick back in February, and knew it wouldn’t be coming with one, but had the 90 days of SiriusXM I decided to enjoy that and then look into a cd drive.
So I purchased this one: https://a.co/d/eLVnaIq and it’s worked great ever since. The only real issue is the adhesive strips don’t stick well to the type of plastic underneath the center control cluster so my dad fashioned a little wedge to keep it from falling and to help the strips stick and since then it’s been great.
Keep those CDs spinning!
Use plastic adhesion promoter 3M

Exactly, I have 1000 CDs I'm not ripping to files or getting rid of so I'll probably do this too. You can also pay for Spotify and do all kinds of different things for music, but CDs still have their place. With CDs you'll listen to an entire album as was intended and you can still use Spotify or Amazon music for mixtape style playlists, but road trips are better with entire albums and cellular signal for data isn't always good. People with home theatres have kept their DVDs rather than deal with low quality streaming or not finding the media they want to hear/see.

I converted all the CDs I knew I'd ever want to listen to again to other formats and put them on my phone. I use the phone's music player to navigate/play the library. I find it easier than navigating a USB drive.

I donated almost all the CDs to a local charity thrift store.
Good idea!

We don't own a pc or laptop any more.
Definitely no apple unless it's produce.
Curiosity got to me, how do you access this site with no pc, laptop or tablet?

Ditched CDs quite a while back, but this is still cool; a big thumbs up from me! You might consider mounting using velcro. You can use a more aggressive adhesive to assist the default adhesive strip that is standard with most solutions, plus you have the advantage of popping it in or out if needed for maintenance/replacement. It's what I use for my wireless Android Auto adapter.

As someone who used to place a lot of importance on picking out the 24 CDs I could fit into my travel case for road trips (out of my own 1,000-CD library), I won’t judge how anybody listens to music 30 years later…

…but you can do all that with your music on a USB, too.

It's debatable whether you still have the legal right to have those rips if you no longer own the physical media.

Not saying it's right. Just putting it out there.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in the same boat-love cd's and miss the cd player in my maverick. I tried one off of EBay that was bluetooth and i tried a portable one that I plugged into the usb but BOTH weren't recognized by the radio. There was no option that pops up after I plugged them in. How did you do it? just plug and play or is there a step I need to do? I am using the standard ford software-not apple CarPlay. Maybe i need to switch?
Also, try the 3M removable mounting strips usually found in the picture hanging/framing section of Lowes or any hardware.
Thanks in advance!
