I wish Ford would make a PHEV like this truck, the BYD Shark.

Saw a TFL truck video today about it.

Not sold in US and appears no plans, but would love an American version of this.

Approx $47,000 USD, fully loaded, PHEV, 60 miles full electric range, approx 560 miles on a tank of gas. Approx 30kw battery pack. Tow 5,500 lbs.

But....the small engine powers a generator that constantly recharges the battery. So you get the best of full electric range (60 miles), then using gas for longer road trips and quick refills at a gas station.

Was really impressed with that engine/electric design.

Have a '22 Hybrid XL now, but I would definitely shop something like this.

I loved the drive train in my volt.
My Maverick hybrid was the next best choice for me.
Even if they took the drivetrain from the plug-in Escape and used it in the Maverick.
37 mile range electric only.
40 mph running the gas engine
520 Mi range total combined

While I can see the appeal for this truck (it looks spectacular on paper), I like the idea of being able to have access to the many gas stations for fueling the hybrid. I know the EV charging stations are increasing, but I hear there are long waits in line as well as the time it takes to recharge.

Yes, this is a plug in hybrid that takes gas also. The gas engine runs an internal generator to charge the battery and allow Max driving range of 560 miles on a tank of gas.

Just like filling the hybrid now at a gas station....or plug in at home, work or charging station to get the 60 miles of electric only charge, then gas usage after that.

If you never charged it, still get 500 miles per tank of gas.

Best of both worlds.

I love seeing the technology already in use; would like to see a US made version of this.

Add to it that legendary Chinese quality and you've definitely got...something.
If you have a problem, you will have to ship it back to China! There will not be many dealers in the USA for service. That's important to me.

Import laws on small trucks disqualify this from coming into the US, UNLESS it's made by a company with a US factory (something like this). That's how Volvo is bringing in their smaller 40 electric SUV later this year or next year.

Feels like an EV maverick simply with some super efficient EU series Honda generators (they can run a home) would be perfect and relatively affordable. No need for a large ICE engine to produce power, smaller ones like these are whisper quiet and powerful enough to drive almost forever with a 5-10 gallon tank.

In my area when the Chinese scooter craze hit about ten years ago the local seller had a huge waiting list. Then the mechanical problems started, and it turned out that he didn't know how to fix them and the local motorsports shop wouldn't.

I don't think that Chinese import vehicles would end any differently.

I didn't have that info.

But like the $30k Tesla that never happened, this $60k truck won't happen either. It's like the $19,995 advertised Maverick. "One at this price".

Average RamCharger will be $80k.

Nicely equipped with all the cool stuff:
$100k. Tax + license + fees on a hugely expensive truck will also be huge.

But ya, if I win the Lotto, I'd buy one.
