The problem seems to be that some members here have already experienced the dashes deteriorating and getting sticky/tacky to the touch. That's what I'm trying to prevent. Do search on "sticky dash".
Exactly.
My dash gets tacky to the touch.
I did not have my phone with me yesterday. Otherwise I would have taken pictures.
My Dash's theme song is "Stuck On You"

Just finished installing the dash mat and it looks great and fits very well. Thicker than the carpeted mats and has a quality feel to it; almost like leather. Big problem were the double-sided tape holders they supply. Nearly impossible to separate the sticky part from the covering piece. The sticky part is gooey sticky and very thin so if you're lucky enough to remove the covering you'll have a tough time getting it off your fingers and placed where you want it. It's like using your fingers to put honey on bread. Clearly, the manufacturers never tried to install their mat using these holders.

I'll let the cover relax to the shape of the dashboard before I take a photo. It's not going to look much different than the OP's. Time will tell how well the stickies hold up.

Exactly the reason why I, at first, used Velcro to hold it down, but my OCD Army brain didn't like the look of the way the Velcro raised up the mat approximately 1/4". I went out and purchased Scotch Extreme Mount Double Sided Tape., which is available at your favorite big box store. It is thicker and tackier than the double sided tape they sent with the mat. I used a razor knife to separate the red strip off of the tape. Now it lays flatter than the Velcro strips, and my OCD Army brain says that's acceptable.

Thanks for the information. I have the same 3M tape made specifically for auto use and did not think to use it until your post. I also used razor type blade to get that covering off. It just takes time and patience. I'll see how the included sticky patches hold up and if not well, I'll use the 3M.

Thanks for posting about the dash cover to begin with. I sort of gave up the dash cover idea because of the color mismatch and the carpet look. This looks so much better.

I have had four(4) Covercraft Dashmats, three of four fit well. The last one was a mediocre fit and finish, and their prices have increased. So , I bought a blue mat on Amazon. It was $43, but fit poorly and the blue matched neither interior nor exterior blue. No cutouts for the speakers and could not hear them. Amazon took it back and I found another one on their site in Gray with the proper cutouts for the speakers, the tray and the vents. After sitting in the sun for a couple of hours it molded itself to the dash nicely. My only complaint is the adhesive dots are meager, and they don't hold real well. This one was only $23 plus tax.
I can hear the speakers, get the ventilation, and it helps to further noise reduction.

Just took this with my cheap tablet while sitting in the passenger seat. Probably could have taken a full pic from the back seat, but I'm not a small guy. You get the idea.
That looks better than mine as well.

These things remind me of plastic covers for your couch.
How about the plastic covers in your car! I had them in my 1960 Impala, I bet the second owner removed them, and had a perfect like new interior without the hot sticky, or cold stiff plastic covers to deal with.

No sir, no plastic covers in my truck. I have Dickie Seat Covers on my front seats to help keep from sweating from the seats. I have a dog protector over my rear seat to prevent my German Shepard’s from scratching my seats when I take them to the vet.

I could give two shits about the second owner I'm going to drive it till the wheels fall off like I have every car I've owned.
