Good morning,
Anyone notice how little if any overlap there is as far as the rubber door seal over the edge of the headliner?
On my 2022 FX4 the foam/cloth edge of the headliner basically just butts up against the door weatherstripping/door seal. Not the best way to ensure long term durability.

We have a 2019 F-150 and Escape and both have about 1/2" of headliner under the seal.
To add, this is on ALL 4 doors on the Maverick so it must be intentional?
If so it's also very and subpar! It's a FORD not a Skoda or Yugo.
Maybe it's just mine:mad:

If you have a cell phone.
Could you please take a picture. It helps us visualize what you are describing. So much easier to compare and help if we can.

Yes. There is almost no overlap. I see the edge of my headliner come out all the time and have to push it back under the door seal.

My 22 had same issue. Warranty replaced it, same issue. Not an issue on my 23. Think its manufacturing error in 2022

I will be posting pictures in a little while.
Thanks

Pics,
Almost looks like the door seal is not wide enough.
It barely covers the plastic "A" pillar too.

So much easier with pictures.
I was able to photograph the same identical area of my 2023 XLT.
Pictures always help I hope these do.

Not a recall. Warranty work. Mine showed edge without lifting seal

Awesome Glenn,
Thanks for the excellent pictures.

I initially thought that it was a driver side front door issue but the other 3 doors are just as bad.
🤞my dealership is as upright as yours.

I’m shocked there aren’t more members with this same issue.

Update on headliner:
Dealer followed re-alignment of headliner fix and it failed.
New headliner is getting installed on the 27th👍

Okay, not sure how I buggered the previous post up🤪

Update on my 2022 headliner problem.

Dealer tried to re-align it and determined it was indeed defective.
They are going to install a new one next week.
I was kinda sweating on this one, warranty acceptance isn’t what it used to be.

On my first edition 2022: after the side curtain air bag recall was done I noticed mine was not completely covering. There was a recall (I do not have number handy but a search should find it,) for a range of vin numbers. My vin was NOT IN THE covered range but my dealer replaced headliner under "Managers Discretion". (Probably qualified because of 7y/125k extended warranty, dunno). After new head liner there was very little improvement. I said thanks, I'll live with it. I looked closely and took both hands and very gently pulled the black weatherstripping down about 3/16 inch from being fully seated. You can feel when the weather strip squeezes the metal flange leave it there without pushing it up all the way. (Bottom line is I think the black rubber is a little short (3/4-1.25 inches) and stretches or deforms enough to not cover the edge of head liner. It is by no means covering as much of headliner as it should but I have got it positioned where it covers at least 1/16 inch). Secret way to get edge of weatherstripping lifted onto top of head liner. Take a 1/4" socket on an extension mounted on small electric screwdriver, insert really clean socket and extension between headliner and rubber seal near the top rear corner of window. Squeeze trigger and the socket turning will walk along the top of window lifting the edge and dropping it on top of headliner. (The turning socket sticks to the rubber but slides over the headliner causing the "walking".)🤗

Thanks mate!
I told the service writer that I also wondered about the rubber seal not being wide enough.
We’ll see how it goes, I do know this much, I’m getting too old to put up with the run-around. I really like my Maverick and The 2022 HVAC Temperature Readout on the information screen. 😉
Awesome fix you shared, honestly, I could deal with 3/16, 1/4” overlap.
🤞🤞
