Does anyone know:

1) is there a way to track a vehicle and see how long it’s been on a dealer lot?
2) does the 2023 have the wireless Apple CarPlay? The 2024?

At over $40k, I'm probably going to buy a Ranger. For me, the Maverick XLT Tremor with a SIBL for $32k is a good value. A $40k Maverick doesn't make sense as it's built on the lower end base truck. I don't need electric seats. I never move it. I don't need heated seats. I dress warmly when it's cold out and it only takes a few minutes for the truck to warm up. I don't need the truck to center me in the lanes. I can handle it myself. It's just so much fluff. I love the experience of driving. I don't need any help. It's okay to have that stuff, if you can afford it. But if you can afford it, why not buy something nicer, like a Ranger?

I can actually think of a couple of reasons. For $40k I can buy a Ranger XLT AWD with nothing on it or for $40k, actually you can get them for less you can get a Lariat Tremor with everything on it. Yes, the Ranger is a real truck (body on frame) but it's also larger and I don't want larger. The Lariat Tremor is a blast to drive and I like having all the toys, had a '23 XLT FX4, was nice but the Lariat Tremor is just more fun. I mean you could make the argument about most vehicles, there is a base model and then there are several $$$ models, is the F-150 King Ranch really worth $$$, it's based on the cheap XL.
But I completely understand if you don't have the money you are buying XL or XLT, that's what I did when I was younger but now that I'm older I can afford the model with all the toys.

Hi All,

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, I've been really trying to make the right decision and figure out what my priorities are. I have searched this forum and it seems like a lot of people prefer the Tremor to the FX4, and often that's due to ride quality and handling. It's frustrating that you can't get the Tremor with the 4K Tow Package.

So, I was thinking, what if I get an FX4 with the 4K Tow Package and then add Flatout Suspension lift to the FX4. Then I could have the same ride height as the Tremor, the tow package, and the smoother/better handling of the Flatout Suspension. I would be missing the Tremor front bumper and the locking diff, but otherwise it seems like it would be about the same.

What am I missing?

Would adding the aftermarket suspension void the warranty?

Thanks!

I don't think adding a lift is going to duplicate the ride and handling of the Tremor but it seems like 4K towing is important to you so perhaps the FX4 with 4K tow package is a better choice for you. I'm guessing most of us Tremors owners did not care about towing and had other priorties which led us to the Tremor.

Honestly, I don’t have anything to tow, but it just seems annoying to have a truck that can only tow 2,000 lbs. and would be nice to have the availability to tow 4K, should the need arise. 4K isn’t much and 2K is nothing. My partner’s gutless Subaru Outback is rated to tow more, haha

Also, I’d prefer not to have the orange stitching and Tremor logo on the seat.

I hear what you’re saying about the lift not necessarily being able to duplicate the ride and handling quality so was hoping we might hear from someone who has installed it. Their lifts come with tuned shocks and springs, they’re pricey, but I’ve heard the ride quality is really good.

I have a Bronco Sport Big Bend and I am going to trade it for a Maverick Tremor because I want the extra height, better approach angle with the front bumper, and advanced 4wd system.
Hey OP! Was casually lurking around and saw your topic about trading in your Bronco Sport for a Mav Tremor. I recently picked up a Tremor myself and it's been a fantastic little truck for my purposes.

I wanted to ask you, have you considered an upgrade to the Bronco Sport Badlands? In addition to the Tremor, we also have a Badlands that the wife primarily drives and it's a fantastic little SUV. It has all of these things you mentioned above as well the 2.0 EB engine.

For all intents and purposes it's basically the same vehicle minus the truck bed (shorter vehicle length being a boon for off-roading since you mentioned wanting better approach angles and advanced 4wd) and a much nicer interior. If there were an option for an upgraded interior for the Mav that could compare to the Badlands I definitely would have paid a little more for it. I'm always a little jealous of the Badlands when I take it out for a spin.

That said, if you're looking for the utility of a truck bed that's absolutely acceptable, just wanted to offer up an additional option since I have experience with both!

Edit: the Bronco Sport Badlands doesn't have any orange stitching around the interior if that's also an important thing for you ;)

Thanks for your input. I did test drive a Badlands and was initially considering an upgrade. Ultimately, it will be nice to have a truck for more utilitarian ventures and my partners Outback for when we need a nice SUV.

The Badlands is definitely cool and I am worried I will miss my Sport, but it’ll be nice to have the bed for tossing my bike in the back, going to the hardware store, moving larger objects, etc.

Regarding interiors, do you have the Lariat Mav or the XLT? What bits from the Badlands do you wish the Mav had?

Completely understandable about more utilitarian ventures, especially being located up in Mammoth. I'm down in socal and we make trips up that way multiple times per year. This was the first year we were able to have a truck to take up, all of our gear in the bed, and our very large golden-shepherd mix on the bench seat in the back. We would not have been able to take all of our stuff and the dog up in the Bronco Sport without a roof rack and the convenience factor was outstanding.

I've got a Lariat that I managed to stumble onto that was being offered up at a significant discount at a Toyota dealership. The previous owner bought it new, drove it for 500mi, and traded it in for a Taco because they just wanted that instead I guess.

I like the way the seats and their materials were put together in the Badlands. I'm not thrilled with the vinyl seats of the lariat (I tend to sweat a lot so I'm really not looking forward to sitting in those seats in socal summers), but given the find that it was and the obscene markdown (dealer was selling it for roughly $32.5k), beggars can't be choosers.

I also like the Badlands slightly softer material on the door sills where I typically rest my arm while driving, Mav is straight hard plastic. The infotainment screen in the Badlands is WAY better than the Mav, it's much brighter and closer to eye level for quick viewing, also just seems generally less buggy and laggy.

The Badlands cabin is much quieter, less engine noise and road noise coming through, and I really like the way the center console controls were stacked and having the start button at the top by the screen is very intuitive (it legit took me a solid couple minutes to find the start button in the Mav the first time I sat in it which is hidden below the stack, not intuitive at all). The Badlands front facing camera is also way more useful than I thought it would be, especially for getting in and out of tight spaces (I don't believe any Mav variants have this).

All that said, I'm still incredibly happy with the Mav and most of these creature comfort differences are fairly negligible in the grand scheme of things. It's still a phenomenal little truck, incredibly fun to drive, and just so practical. Given the choice between the two, I think I would personally still pick the Mav over the Badlands, at least the Tremor variant.

Yep, we’re in the same boat. Two dogs (100 lbs and 60 lbs) and they ride in the back seat. The cargo area on the BS is quite small, which is disappointing. It’s the same size as my 2001 Forester, but the Forester has more room in the cargo area.

interesting to hear that the seats are vinyl, I assumed they were leather. I really like the interior of my BS, including the cloth seats. Hearing that the Tremor is vinyl is disappointing.

Anyways, I appreciate you taking the time to write an informative post and glad to hear your trips to the Eastern Sierra are easier now!

Here a bit of stink about windshield wiper de-ice and door keypad removall.. I don't think that would ever be a deal breaker... That would be like rejecting a 2023 becuase 2022 had the temp indications on the dials...
I live in the desert southwest of arizona and mexico... sooo... would never ever use it. and the keypad... I bought it for $200 and placed it here, which I think looks pretty good.

You should cross shop with Nissan Frontier Pro 4X, if you want towing. They have heavy discounts leading to price similar to Maverick Tremor. And it can tow 6,180 lbs.
I chose Tremor over FX4 because Tremor has higher ground clearance and rear clutch locker. And saw Youtube videos that highlighted better ride compared to FX4. I also prefer Maverick Tremor's ease of getting in compared to body on frame trucks.

Hi All,

I’m brand new here, but have done some searches about Mavericks and appreciate all of your help so far!

I have a Bronco Sport Big Bend and I am going to trade it for a Maverick Tremor because I want the extra height, better approach angle with the front bumper, and advanced 4wd system.

I’ve picked one out and I’m working on price. Dealer is asking $41,495 and it’s a 2023. It’s a special order with Lariat Luxury Package, spray-in Bedliner, and 360+. I’ve talked them down to $39,445 because I can get a comparable 2024 Tremor for the same price. Does that seem about right, or can I go lower? Truck is located in Southern California.

Can I use the window sticker to determine when the truck was delivered? I’d really like to figure out how long it’s been on the lot and use that info to negotiate a better deal.

Finally, anything about the 2024 that I won’t get in the 2023 and might miss?

Thanks!
I picked up 24 my tremor lariat with sunroof in April for 39,800ish if that helps any.

If you have nothing to tow as you mentioned then purchase the Tremor. You won't be disappointed. With the Tremor's softer spring rate you can all ways add air bags in the rear springs like I did and air up if you think you might have to pull a little bit of an extra load. With that said I haven't tow one thing yet. :giggle: It was the rear locker that did it for me. You can see why in the photos. However I did get the 23 year price a little under 35K. So I can see why someone at this time might go for the Ranger.

Agreed on the BS's cargo space, it's awesome with the seats down but fairly mediocre with the seats up.

Leather definitely would have been nicer, we'll see how it holds up. I had a BMW 3 series that this truck replaced that was from 2008 and had BMW's synthetic leather which actually held up way better than I anticipated. TBD on Ford's...though you still get the cloth seats with the XLT which I think would have been better, but again, took what I could get.

You're very welcome though, always happy to be able to share perspectives like this where I can and I wish you the best in your vehicle hunt!
