Just got my 24' XLT AWD EB on the 12th of this month, love it so far, just a few areas that need some work. But that's expected with how Ford got these made so cheap. So it's now my New Project Build :D

For the last week or so *work late nights o_O* I have been putting a high heat coating on my exhaust and some of the un-coated parts under the mav. This is mostly due to already seeing a fair bit of rust with the truck not even having 400 miles on it yet, so that's a bit concerning.

First of-course I took the exhaust off completely up to the down-pipe.

Once I had it off, which this exhaust is actually Super easy to take off, I proceeded to use a wired brush wheel on an angle grinder to clean off the surface rust etc, this took a few days just because of my work schedule so w/e lol.

After taking the rust off I then cleaned it off with alcohol, then proceeded to spray it down with Rust-Oleum High Heat paint.

lolz, yes I had to get creative on how to support the exhaust as I painted it XD.

After I let it sit for a few days in the sun I wiped it down again with a 3 in 1 ceramic/wax from Griots Garage, I've done this with my Honda Rebel 1100s muffler and its been great with now 6k miles on it lol.

Here's everything all set an done.....till I upgrade the exhaust...thinking about a Thermal R&D exhaust :D.

Other area's under the truck that I also did with the same coating etc, similar process, sanded down, wiped with alcohol then painted.

Drive shafts etc.

This is the area that has the most rust, was like this right after I got it, and it hasn't even rained this month really :/.

@Valzyran looks good enough that I'd let you do mine if you weren't so far away.

Great work!

I have the Thermal R&D 3" turndown exhaust. It's really hard to make a 4 cylinder sound good. The Thermal has a nice balance of sound. Its not obnoxious at idle or up to 1500rpm, but when you punch it the sound picks up and has a little snarl. Very happy that you can actually hear the truck when you start it, but it doesn't make my neighbor upset when its idling.

Thanks! Took a lot of time just taping it off to avoid overspray, still have a few area's where I did spray that didn't get *full* coverage, like the driveshafts, as I didn't pull those out, I did spray Over them so they got a lil bit, will look at it again when I next drive it.

At 1st I was thinking of doing a custom 3" exhaust, with a Y split at the rear Dif, splitting off to the rear of each wheel well with dual, staggered tips, 15" and 16" long, with 3.5" wide tips. did that with my WRX and it sounded great, granted totally different motors but most people don't realize that the tips control a lot of the sound.

My WRX had a Remark Boso exhaust with there midpipe and it had a really nice Low deep sound, didn't have a resonator or muffler, so cold starts were loud, but not bad :D.

Thermal R&D's exhausts sounds the most similar to my WRXs so that's what I plan on going with lol.

I used the same product but went with the aluminum color. I also didn't drop the exhaust because I didn't want to mess with the inline heat exchanger for the hybrid battery. My 2c on the exhaust system is to check it again in several months. Even after applying the primer and paint coat and going through the proper curing procedure, I'm still seeing some corrosion pop up in seams. I imagine this is actually corrosion from the inside.

I also went through the painful process of applying Cosmoline RP-342 black to the entire underside. Just in case you want some more project ideas...

This is a 35x25x12ft building, Lots of idea's for this XD, Welding/Woodworking/MotorCycle/Truck etc, Just finishing it off with sealing it top to bottom etc, then adding insulation, walls and a loft thats 7-8ft off the floor about halfway in to the back.

Shops almost done, just need to get electical hookups etc, then to build the loft area, as for mods on the truck I just installed a Thermal R&D 3" exhaust, and have a S&B intake waiting to install, just need to contact S&B about shipping a missing gasket for the main intake tube going to the turbo inlet.

Also will be waiting to install the intake until my trucks out of the shop :(, around 9:30pm on the 23rd of July I struck a Deer *buck* while going home from work, damn thing came out of nowhere, following 2 doe's that had already crossed the road, did nearly $5k in damages.

My front bumper, grill, driver side headlight and driver side fender all need to be replaced >.<, will also have the hood looked at too as the bucks head also hit that but bounced off my EGR deflector lol. I don't even have 2k miles on this truck I got in May lol >.>.

Ohio rule of thumb, when you see does crossing the road, BRAKE. Real hazard in my location.

Clipped a couple with my old Raptor and it shrugged them off. I have no such illusions about the Tremor.

I literally had like 2 seconds to respond After seeing the Doe's, luckily so far I am not seeing any frame damage, just surface. Still not something I wanted to deal with this month >.>.

Truck is headed to the shop on the 19th this month for the repairs, in the mean time I'll ride my Honda Rebel 1100 into work for now lolz.
