I'm sure it's normal, maybe I'm just a newbie that's not well educated but I've noticed lately that when I let my truck warm up and start driving at low speeds (i.e., parking lot or out of the driveway) it starts heavily bucking and jerking until it's fully warmed up. Sometimes the idle gets high, around 2K r.p.m until it decides to shift. However, it's fine once it's fully warmed up and been through several stop and goes. It hasn't done this before, just lately. That's why I bring it up in the first place. I'm concerned if it's premature wear that's occurring or a sign of transmission failure/tuning which I've heard is an issue with these.

I'm one of those types who always lets the vehicle idle for a minute or two before driving off. It gives the engine some time to get lubricated. I've been taught that if you drive your vehicle right away when it's ice cold, it'll add premature wear and tear to your engine in the long run. But I've also been told that in order to get your vehicle to warm up faster, you start driving it but at low rpms first before it hits normal operating temperature.

Sounds like it needs some diagnostics ran. Could be an issue with the transmission? Maybe a solenoid stuck or something? Still under warranty?

You bet. It's only two and half months old.

Definitely make some calls and get it in for services. Is it a 4k? Wouldn't be the first time I've seen reports of our transmission having issues, albeit uncommon.

It only has 1,667 miles. I will say it's not a dramatically heavy jerking. It just seems to hesitate a little bit when it's cold. Once fully warmed, it's totally fine.

I’ve noticed mine shifts a little weird occasionally when it’s first started, not to the extent you are talking but it’s been noticeable to me before, I’d say maybe a handful of times in 3 months of ownership

To add to that, it actually shifts way better in slippery mode but the throttle response is obviously not as good as normal. Haven’t tested any of the other modes.

I've noticed this with mine. Only first few shifts outta the driveway or a parking lot when cold. Pretty hard shifts in parking lots at low speed. 4 k tow on mine, glad I have a extended power train warranty. Hopefully there is a tsb for shift harshness available when I finally bring it in for the outstanding recalls.

Yes 25-30 on mine shifts weird and lower speeds/rpms there is a lot of lag and hunting. But "bucking" is a bit excessive and if yours is really acting erratic I'd say get it checked out. Seems like 4k just has a very bad tune/shift points and needs to warm up to be reminded to act like a normal transmission.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe bucking is too strong of a word to describe it. It does have some noticeable hesitation when driving at low speeds before it's at full temperature. Then it's totally fine when fully warmed up. Like you said, I guess it has to be reminded to act like a normal transmission from time to time.

I have a 24 Eco XLT FX4, 800 miles. When I back out of the driveway, for the first maybe mile, it kinda jerks, hesitates and funny shifting. Its not bad, just enough to notice that its there. After that its smooth. It kinda acts like when you try to wake up a teenager at 6 AM.

I let mine sit, idle, couple minutes for one reason…turbo. Not so much for engine itself, especially at idle. Starting up engine sitting overnite, and turbo spinning 10,000+ rpm, best let oil get pumped up. I’m a big proponent of pre-lube and post-lube systems. Pre-lube to get lube oil pressure u0 before starts, and post-lube to help cool down oil in turbo cavity.

Yeah it does it a little bit when you first start driving it's kind of like it's either trying to speed through the gears to get to where it needs to be or it lugs a little bit sometimes.I seem to notice it personally when I'm at a light getting ready to turn and it happened in all drive settings that I've used but it does seem to go away once you're warmed up a little
