After 9 months of waiting my XL Ecoboost Cactus Grey MaV finally came in. I ordered bare bones to speed up delivery (LOL). Today i had the Ford bed liner installed at dealer, it is a 5 (believe) piece unit and have some good and bad surprises I did not see coming and am wondering if dealer did not do something or I presumed and am now stuck. First good sort of surprise was there are cut outs for the loop tie downs that XL's do not come with that I want to install. However when i saw a factory installed bed liner the paint was not showing like mine is, it was covered in plastic with loop on top of plastic. Is this a potential place for water to get in and get under the liner? Did the dealer cut this out or is this how it comes. Sen with the loop tie down installed will it not be watertight on edges of cut out?
On the rear where the other two tie downs XL's don't come with are located there is no cut out or indentations so I have no way of knowing where they are located. Two other surprises, my 12V power connectors are now covered up, hidden behind the liner and the cubby storage on both sides is covered up. Even though XL's do not come with those outfitted they can be. But not now it looks like i will need to cut the liner or disassemble to find the locations. Should the dealer have left cut outs for these and brought the 12volt connector out to the surface? Same with the cubby covers. I would have thought they would have cut it out and brought the cover to the surface. Am i being unrealistic?
Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated. As someone who never owned a truck before and am not sure exactly how i will use it and outfit it I am not happy with Flexbed features being covered up. The FLEXibility just went out of my bed with the liner is what I am thinking.

I got the Ford bed mat and the Ford tailgate protector. Nothing covered up with them.

Plus I don't like plastic on the bed floor because it's too slippery. Things move around way too easy. Doesn't happen with the rubber bed mat.

There are marking on the backside for all the cutouts but the dealer won't cut them out unless you have the tie downs, rails, etc. I am sure if you asked them to do it when they installed it they would have done it then. Maybe you can get them to do it after the fact.

Thanks for insight. I would think for the cuby cover and the 12v power socket they would automatically cut it out since those are there. And the question begs then why did they cut out the front loop tie downs i didn’t have those pieces or tell them i was getting them. I do plan to go back and request the power and cubby be cut out since those are there. Especially now that i know there are pre marked cut outs

That's how it comes from factory. I had to cut it open myself

I called dealer and they quickly and with no hassle agreed that covering those flexbed items up was not correct and offered to fix. No problem.

Please make sure they are careful around the front portion of you bed!! If you drill any holes you will hit your gas tank!!

I bought my liner with FordPoints and installed it. I cut out the holes I wanted. Probably 3 times the care compared to a dealer install.

The modular liner is cut when OUT OF THE BED. The gas tank issues were with the Ford Spray-in liner.

Yeah even with a factory install the 12v plugs by the tailgate are covered. From the factory they cut out any other factory options on your build, but not those for some reason.

Well, they are not outlets unless you add an outlet. They are just covers holding a 12 volt pair of wires, terminated in a 2-pin plug that matches the cord that should have been in your glovebox. I only cut out the one on the passenger side and added a 12 volt socket in the cover.

Yeah that's well covered in the promotional videos. 😉

Whatever you want to call them (and I can't be asked) they were covered by the bed liner - which is the point the OP was making.

But my 120v whatever you want to all it and bed light and cubby on the passenger side were not covered up.

It isn't hard to tremove the modular liner. I took out the rails and passenger side liner when I finally made up my mind what I wanted to do as far as setting up a 12 volt outlet. I have the inverter and light on the driver's side, and I didn't think I wanted to uncover both of the covers. I haven't used the outlet in 14 months...I probably could have left them both covered.
