Cool! Looks like you had to fabricate a spacer piece to connect the rack to the rail?

yea, Since the side rail isn't flush with the bed liner lip, I used the rack cover piece that came with the racks as an "U" bracket. I didn't need the covers since the bed is only 54 inches. Package came with 2 covers 60 inches long

Low Budget Bed Rack on side bed rails. I wanted a low profile rack not to high, and install on the factory side rails. I found this ladder rack for vans in Amazon for $153. Link attached

The pictures are showing the surfboard that is bending upward. I assume that is the highest height setting, do you have a picture or can you let us know how much clearance between the roof and the object on the rack if the object is flat?

Clearance is only 1 inch without the surfboard pad, see new pictures. With the pad is 2 inches

Hello, if you could explain how you're attaching the rack to the bed rails a bit more, it would be appreciated. It looks like you have some spring clips in your 2nd image.
Thanks.

Oh yea totally, I used these strut channel spring nuts from Home Depot to hold the brackets in place. Please see attached

Thanks for the quick response. This looks to be perfect for truck-topping my Sawyer X-17

Ordered my rack and strut channel nuts. They have the nuts on Amazon at 10 for $9 and the rack for $135. I may use those nuts to make a bed divider.

Awesome, please share some photos. I also did a lightweight bed divider, here's the link. I couldn't attach it on the rail since the rack is in the way. And needed it to fold since the rack is in the way

So, OK. I got the parts sorted out. And will launch into the project in the next couple of days.
Looks like I'm going to be cutting drilling and wire wheeling a bit ;-)
I'm seeing how you did this and am curious about a few measurements.
1) Height? Is your height of the rails the maximum that the basic rails can go. What measurement? if you don't mind.
2)Width. I see how you did it but if you could provide a measurement for that also?
Thanks in advance.
