Was only a bit over one hour down and back to gingerman but 65mph speed limit was zero issues for the maverick.

Awesome, I've probably done several thousand laps at Gingerman over the last 20 years. Haven't been back there all that recently though, it's a long trek from central WI to South Haven. Here's what my Mav hybrid tows for HPDEs:

Car is under 1300lbs, tow dolly probably around 400. Tongue weight is maybe 10 lbs. I would think that wouldn't present much concern for the armchair lawyers, but I guess we'll see? Tried a few trailers over the years, bought the dolly because of its low weight and low storage footprint. And towing a lightweight car on it is a joy.

Gingerman ... eats brakes.

Depends on the weight of the car. Yeah, I have friends with a Corvette, a Mitsu EVO, and a Camaro that share that pain over track day brake & tire costs.

Road America is my home track - less than an hour away.

If anyone gets to the central WI area, Shawano has a 1.1mi kart track with a ton of turns & elevation changes that regularly hosts HPDEs (for full size cars) as well. It's outstanding.

Ya and what kind of spec limits where on that old truck. Probably none.
Thats kinda the point. Growing up on a farm tend to teach you some things about that.

I grew up working summers on a farm as well. If anything, it gave me respect for how actual failure points must be MUCH higher than published limits and specs. Makes me think that engineers take a user's lack of proper judgment into account when designing things. It was sometimes unreal what people did with that equipment, but hey, the work needed to get done.

If you want to eat brake pads try Road America. 130-135 going downhill into a 90 and another from the same speeds or little higher with the higher HP cars (Canada Corner). And at least 4 others that I have to get from 90-100 down to 50 for the 90 degree corner.

So how much weight will the dolly handle? If its 3000 I'm all ears.

Only saving grace for RA is brakes have some time to cool. Between corners

I love Blackhawk, it feels like driving in a state park. I used to do events there before they cut back some of the trees and still had rough asphalt-concrete transitions.

I do events purely for fun, and the pucker factor on the straights at RA (not to mention concrete barriers) has risk for me that takes away too much of the fun so I've never run there. Can't exactly get the car repaired at a dealer or buy body panels for it at Autozone and that adds to this concern.

So how much weight will the dolly handle? If its 3000 I'm all ears.

I would expect that would be no problem for most dolly models. Bought mine used about 20 years ago so they may have improved since then as well. A bit of Googling should answer that pretty quickly.
