I've been looking into replacing my soft tri-fold tonneau cover from Gator (from 2022) for a while now and seems like there are more options out there now.

Have anyone tried the $459 low profile tonneau cover from eBay?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/314585017226

The next cheapest option I saw was from Rough Country for $650.
https://www.roughcountry.com/product/maverick-low-profile-bed-cover-47254500

Almost a ~$200 price difference between the two... I thought about going the cheaper route with the ~$300 hard tonneau cover option as well but don't like the look as much.

I'm on the fence as to where to buy a tonneau cover from. I have had terrible luck with Ebay with companies that had false addresses and dissappeared after my purchase. With Amazon, at least they refunded my money. Ebay's pricing on products tend to be 10% to 15% lower than Amazon for the same items, but man, Ebay has ripped me off one time too many. And for $400-$500 dollars, thats a lot on the line. Anyone else feel comfortable with Ebay?

Check out my thread on my sawtooth cover. I really like it and think it's a really good option for a soft tonneau cover.

I prefer the tri-fold hard cover type.
For sure, If this one I have does not last, I will go with a hard cover. I like the looks of that rough country one. The one thing I liked about the Hyundai Santa Cruz was the retractable hard tonneau cover that came as an option. I wonder if any company makes one like that for the Maverick?

If I were looking for a soft cover, I think the Sawtooth might be the way to go. However, I want the added security (however falsely perceived) provided by a hard cover.

There are some retractables for the Maverick. You can swim along the Amazon and Ebay tributaries and find a boat load of them.

For sure! I think the tri fold hard covers are more durable and better for security.

I got mine from eBay with no problem. Shipping took about a week via UPS.

I noticed that many of the hard tri-folds with lights listed on eBay are exactly the same but prices range from $325 to $399 including shipping.

I can’t say for other brands but the OEM one I ordered when I placed the order for my truck has given me fits as far as leaking up near the cab, I’ve taken it off and looked at entry points for water, I would think most or all of the hard tri folds would be installed roughly the same. That being said I don’t know how they don’t all leak without some sort of sealant applied underneath it.

I have a retractable cover on mine, and despite an adjustment or two after professional installation, I love it. They are expensive but IMO, lays flat and looks great. https://realtruck.com/p/retraxone-mx-tonneau-cover/v/ford/maverick/2023/

For me- the downside to these inexpensive trifolds is that the panel near the cab doesn’t lift up. For such a small truck bed- I really wanted access to the whole bed. For security- you should ask the eBay seller if the middle panel has a latch/locks in place, I found that most of them on eBay did not or it was not easy to lock/unlock. The rough county one does have the middle latch that you can see in the photos. Just some things to consider.

Hard cover tri-fold is the way to go in my opinion. A.R.E. Fusion is my favorite, pricey($1,400-1,600),but after going through snow and rain in one day recently with a completely dry bed it is worth the money. Also important is who is putting the cover on! The installer must know what they are doing.
