I had stumbled across some posts about this but can't seem to find them again through search: I have a Rockford component set I plan to install this weekend. The woofer has the tweeter crossover built-in, but obviously I need to run speaker wire from the tweeter terminals on the woofer to the dash tweeter location. Anyone have any tips for this? I thought I read something about a trick to make it much easier. Is there room in the grommet/loom thing for some 16G? Should I start from the cabin side or door side? Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm a little confused on this. If the speaker has a cross over on it for the tweeters why do you have to run wire from the tweeters to it. These speakers don't have a inline cross over? From the Ford wiring diagram I have seen both set of front speakers have the same signal but are split for balance control.

Not sure what you mean exactly. The tweeters don’t have any inline crossover. In most component sets, you get a separate crossover module box. In this particular set, instead of a separate crossover component box where you’d run one wire to the crossover, then one wire from the crossover to the woofer and one from the crossover to the tweeter, the crossover is built into the woofer. So there are two sets of terminals on the woofer: one to receive the signal from the head unit, which is then crossed over internal to the woofer housing with the bass frequencies going to the woofer, and the treble frequencies going to the other set of terminals on the woofer. I then need to run speaker wire from these tweeter terminals to the tweeters in the dash.

I have never use this system before so I am not familiar with it. I did however replace the tweeters in my Tremor with Pioneer speakers and I tap into and ran a set of wires to from them to an under seat sub woofer. Not sure if you want to go that path. Maybe you can connect at the audio control module or the display unit.

What model pioneer tweeters did you install? Did you install them into the dash location? Was it only tweeters you replaced?

are you using an amp? if so does it have the ability to bi amp components?

I'll be honest, I can't recall anyone posting about wiring like that and I anticipate the wire bundle going into the door to be really well sealed and difficult to wire there.

I have seen a few installs with component tweeters high on the door panel instead of in the dash. you might have to do that for simplicity.

Hmm. How are other people wiring components then? Either the crossover goes in the dash, or it goes in the door. Either way, speaker wire needs to be run through the door jam, right?

So if you have a separate crossover instead of integrated to the mid, you would install it somewhere under the dash and wire it into the existing door speaker wire before it goes into the hinge bundle, and then run new wire from the crossover to the dash tweeter.

What you have seems to me like it is necessary to either wire through the door bundle or mount the tweeter on the door. If you can still return them I would consider doing that and getting a component set with a traditional separate crossover.

Or you can bi amp and not use the connections on the mid to the tweeter at all, assuming your amp has integrated crossover.

I installed them in the dash replacing the original speakers. Pioneer TS-A300TW . Then made a wire harness ( soldered ) and ran the speaker wires from the original plug from the left and right speaker to power a small sub woofer that is under the passengers seat.

I installed a set of Morel components and chose to mount on the sail trim piece instead of the dash. Much easier install and sounds great. Just test fit and measure/mark/drill with the door closed to ensure the fit.

That looks sweet. Could we get a pic from a few feet away. So we can see the overall finished look. They appear to be surfaced mounted.......correct?Which morel tweeters are those and were did you buy them from? Thanks

How do you like the sound of the pioneer tweeters? Are they too bright or shrilly? Reason I ask is because I just ordered a set of the new ts-a series + component 6.5 set. It includes the newer version of that tweeter (ts-a301tw). I know it's a PEI hard dome tweeter so it falls in-between a soft textile and a true hard dome (aluminum, titanium) tweeter. Thanks

sure thing. I’ll get another pic later today.
Morel Tempo Ultra 602 MKII - highly recommended. From Crutchfield, also highly recommended.
I tried the Focals with the in-line crossover first for ease of install but they were too bright for my taste. Personal preference but these Morels are smooth as silk.

They're not overbearing they blend right in with the other speakers and don't over power the other speakers. they have a nice snappy sound when needed. This is subjective and depends on the listeners ear.
