I finally got a response from the dealer and it will be next Monday before they can get me something to drive. So almost a week with no vehicle. This is unacceptable @Ford Motor Company
Same boat. Today is a week without a vehicle. My dealer told me there’s a 6 week waiting list for loaners. Good luck!

Anyone being refused a loaner with an extended Warranty - one of the main reasons to purchase one - should be getting the full price of that warranty refunded - seems to me this is a breech of contract or bait and switch - though unintended still not right - I will say I am not a lawyer but If I ever am in this situation I'll get to know one ;)

Cheers

I contacted ford customer service directly and they contacted my dealer and made them give me a loaner. So it is in the shop now. I will give you guys updates. Call ford if you have a warranty issue and the dealer is giving you the runaround.

Just an update on my same problem. Got the truck back last night. Dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and that "the codes were cleared". It's very disappointing to hear.

They told me next time it happens to try to bring it in directly. Which seems like I would just have to be lucky enough to be near enough for limp mode to make it, and only weekdays during working hours.

Just saw the recall article, the title makes it sound like this same problem, but reading everyone's responses on this form make it sound like some other issue. I am not sure.

Anyone else have these issues? What was the fix?
My hybrid Maverick is in the shop for the same thing and has been there for 9 days. Gave info and they stated they had to replicate the problem. Gave info.

Hey, Linda! I can take a closer look into your power loss concerns should you need further assistance. Can you send us a PM with your VIN and the dealership name/location? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation".

I filed a complaint with the NHTSA about this and just read the article in USA Today about the recalls. Probably going to be selling this. It will be the LAST Ford I ever buy. They will not notify people until May 13 the article said. This can be so dangerous to suddenly lose power. As the old saying goes: Ford= found on road dead.

That recall is unlikely to be related to the issue people have been having after PCM updates in other recalls....

Usually that is the case. When did you have recalls performed?

I don't know what DTC's your Mav has...but for loss of power on highway after PCM update recalls, tech hotline recommends updating PCM. A newer software update is available after March 22.

In order to get paid by Ford, the techs are supposed to replicate the problem. In order to get paid for PCM update, the workshop manual or TSB/FSA must direct the techs to reprogram PMC.
Because of the tech hotline reports, I can think of a few other ways to get this paid....

PCM reprogramming should take 15-20 min. If any of our dealership's customers had this issue, we'd just update PCM anyway, even if Ford wouldn't pay. It is a simple way to help the customer.

I am not a tech myself...and I don't know what DTC's for Maverick has.... but my advice is to ask your dealership to check Tech Assistance Hotline reports for this issue. And/or to have them get in touch with their FSE. I'm 99% sure that they'll just have to reprogram PCM to latest software level, and that should fix your issue.

I haven't seen any reports of problems after March 22nd PCM updates on here...or in hotline reports. So it looks like that is the fix that will solve this problem (for most people at least).

Let’s sure hope so! 🙏
I just had the updated software updates done.
What’s a real worry to me is the first
Software updates in my driveway, that it took from March 8th until this past Friday and 1,000 miles for the issue to surface with the total loss of power.
I drove it on freeway at different speeds and around the city for a month and 1,000 miles before the issue happened.
Some reported it happened not long after updates. In my case it was a month and 1,000 miles…
Hope it’s fixed I’m worried to drive it on the freeway now.
Only one way to find out I guess….

A thought that came to mind for us Maverick owners.
make sure you know where your hazard button is at!
I’m being serious, make sure you are familiar with where it’s at in the event that you need to press it. Say in the dark, or on the freeway, or anywhere for that matter.

Totally understandable that you would still be worried. I would be too!

My reason for optimism about the latest software update: Ford "paused" the PCM update recalls in mid-March (18th or 20th?), and then gave the go-ahead to resume them on March 22nd. That tells me that they identified and corrected the software issue. Field Service Engineers have advised dealers to re-reprogram PCMs of affected Mavericks (this advice is from a few cases in late March/ early April). So I am quite optimistic that the latest software will solve the issue for you (and everyone else)!

I am optimistic as well. My VIN# isn't affected by this recall. But with any moving forward, I can see that Ford is taking a more serious approach to our problems. Communication is paramount. If the dealerships aren't forwarding our issues as a "high priority" up the chain, they won't be seen. Just telling us they "couldn't replicate the problem" doesn't mean it didn't happen. My feeling is that we all are finally being heard!!

Good info.

Basically after March 22nd there is a PCM update...is this an update to one of the last two recalls (turn signal and illumination) or is this a separate update ?

Either way, this smells yet of a other recall.NHTSA complaints are piling up.

Turn signal and illumination recalls involved reprogramming body control module and instrument panel cluster . The PCM (power train control module) was for the emissions recalls.

Based on everything that I has seen, it was the emissions recalls that caused the problem.
