I’ve only had this truck for a month with 650 miles and I got this message for engine service. Anybody else had this issue and what it could be? I already have an appointment with Ford but just pretty odd it would happen so early with the truck.

Tons of folks on here have had Service Engine Soon notices.

It's either an actual fault, as the notice says, or a computer glitch, common in brand new vehicles, including Mavericks.

Maybe it's just wanting you to drive it more. LOL

yeah makes sense, fingers crossed it’s not a major issue. Will do on the driving, I love my Maverick!

I got the same message with about the same mileage. Kept on driving and ignored it. Had it in for a couple of recalls back in February and they didn't see anything in the Forscan about it, so I just let it be.

I've had a few goofy soft problems (like fuel door popping open on its own) and inaccurate warning messages from my Mav, like "deep sleep" on my phone app or "phone battery low" on the truck display. All I can say is that the hardest thing for a software developer to do is to modify code written by someone else without introducing bugs. ex: Microsoft totally destroyed their Windows PAINT app 15 years ago by trying to add some features and has never fixed it. As rolling computer networks, all new cars suffer from this to some extent, and Ford's aggressive R&D schedule for the Maverick probably amplified the problem. Many members are hesitant to get software recalls done for this reason. This dark side of technology is one of life's inconvenient truths that we have to accept and try to manage in the real world.

After some time did the engine light go off on its own? Or only after you took it in for a recall they did it for you?

It went off on its on and has never returned. When I took it in for a different recall, it was already gone and they couldn't find it in the log history.

I have a 2024 2.5 XLT that I bought last month and the check engine light came on at 734 miles on the Odometer. I took it in immediately. They replaced the Heat Exchanger. Not a good start to a hopefully long relationship with this vehicle.

Did it cost anything out of pocket? Or was it covered under the warranty?

I'm on the same boat, I plan to keep this truck long term and not the best start. I've also seen articles saying it can turn off on its own and could be a glitch. Did you have the same exact message as me on your Ford App?

The APP sent a notification to my phone.
Heading:
SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING
Drop down from the "What is happening?" Heading:
The Engine system has detected a fault.
Drop down from the "What should I Do?:
A lot of Blah, Blah Blah that boils down to if you can still drive it get it to a Dealer or have it towed.
Covered by warranty.

Any Advance Auto, Autozone, others - will use their OBD reader for free to see what the code is specifically causing that Check engine light - doesn't require a long wait back to the dealer, even if you have to do that for warranty work eventually.
As mentioned, some codes will fall off from alert because you went so many miles without another issue so it figures issue fixed.
Like if you drove with the gas cap off in vehicles with one, usually get a DTC regarding EVAP monitor. After you put it back on fully, it would stay lit for many miles, but eventually drop off and finally be removed from logs.

My ‘24 XLT Hybrid sent my FordPass app the same message but no warning light on the dash. I have an appointment with the dealership next week for that, infotainment and rear seat belt warning.
