I hope everything works out! You were exceptionally calm. I would have rapid fired MFers until I was blue in the face!

At least we all know what you will be having for dinner. Looks like she hit at the right time. Half a second longer and that windshield might have been in your lap and you would be the damaged party. Best of luck getting that fixed soon and you are back on the road.I doubt they will...my wife hit a deer last year in our Honda CR-V which did about $8K in damage....our premiums did not change.
Ouch to both your Maverick and the deer! I'm sorry to hear that! I know you must be terribly upset!!Heading West on M-28 with the cruise set at 67 between Ewen and Bergland, MI today when Bambi shot out from the woods at full gallop. There was no time to react so it was a direct hit mainly on the left front. Killed the deer instantly. I was just on my way from getting the Maverick's oil changed at Big Valley Ford in Ewen and took out the deer around 7 miles away. After calling the cops and insurance, I drove it straight back to the dealership body shop where it will be for a little while getting fixed and waiting for a lot of new parts. Body shop estimates $6-7K in damage. Thankfully the airbags didn't deploy and the damage didn't reach the drivetrain, hurt the subframe, affect the radiator, or even affect the electronics (other than the headlight assy is history)...it actually drove perfectly normal back to the dealership...so I think this Mav will ride again! For a direct hit on a ~200lb deer going nearly 70mph, I am pretty impressed on how this little truck held up! I feel bad for the deer but at least she didn't suffer.

As a fellow Michigander and trucklet owner I feel your pain. Good to hear you're okay. We have friends in our former Goldwing group who hit a deer on their bike and they were both badly hurt...it's one of the reasons we stopped riding. I can't imagine how long it will be in the shop, and that's gotta suck.Heading West on M-28 with the cruise set at 67 between Ewen and Bergland, MI today when Bambi shot out from the woods at full gallop. Same, I have a Rexing dash cam on my Tacoma and it works great. But I'll get this Nextcam 222 for the wife's car. Thanks for the tip!At least we all know what you will be having for dinner. Just got a Nextcam 222 on ebay for 39.99. Thank you.
Tough break, usually this time of year deer don't just dart out like that. Glad you're ok & not more damage, but awful expensive to fix. Great video & your reaction.Heading West on M-28 with the cruise set at 67 between Ewen and Bergland, MI today when Bambi shot out from the woods at full gallop. I'm actually quite surprised I didn't drop an F bombI hope everything works out! You were exceptionally calm. I would have rapid fired MFers until I was blue in the face!
The music was just what happened to be playing on SXM Willie's Roadhouse and I was channel flipping right as it happened.First off glad you're ok and the Mav is getting fixed. That deer looked like it was sliding on ice after the hit! Did you add the music or was that on the radio? Kinda timed perfectly right before the hit is why I'm asking.
It's going to be there for a while but it sounds like it won't get totaled because there is no frame damage that they could see and all of the mechanicals and electronics are intact. In the meantime I've got the loaner Ford Escape and my F-150.As a fellow Michigander and trucklet owner I feel your pain. Good to hear you're okay. That's good news. It's refreshing to read someone getting great service from their dealership.Fortunately my dealership just gave me a free rental as long as I need it...and my insurance does have rental coverage in the event I didn't have a dealership as generous as Big Valley Ford.
