My son installed new speakers in my front doors this evening. We used Kicker 51KSC6704 speakers from Crutchfield with their supplied wiring harness and speaker adapters. Removing the door panels was simple. Speaker installation was straightforward. Much improved sound quality, especially bass. No distortion at higher volume.

I'm not that much of an audiophile. I don't think I'll replace the rear speakers or tweeters either. I don't need an amp.

Cool-

No need to upgrade the amplifier???
The front door factory speakers are bad and replacing them took less than an hour. Not sure I could install an amp if I wanted to.

I was planning on getting a "kicker key" amp and a
sub for behind the seat-

Sooner or later...

But afraid to go down the rabbit hole$$$

You'll need a harness for that amp so let me know when you're ready for one. I can build it for you.

I'm thinking of opening the front passenger door panel, just to try & find a rattle. How difficult is it to remove/replace the panel?

Also, I may replace the door speakers. Might as well, while I have the panel removed. Were the speakers plug & play? I've built home speakers, but never installed or replaced any automotive speakers.

Did you put the speaker grill on or leave them off?

I did Rockford Fosgate 6.5 doors fosgate tweets in the dash 4x6 out back. Fosgate 8" powered sub. Sounds much better. Running just off the stock head unit

I updated my front door speakers and tweeters a few weeks ago with PowerBass (OE65C-FD) speakers that I got on Crutchfield. They were a drop in replacement (though I did trim some of the foam down on the door speakers so they weren't pushing so hard on the interior door panel speaker lip. What a difference, a huge improvement, money and time very well spent. They are just running off the stock head unit. The Powerbass speaker weighs at least ten times what the stock speaker weighs.

I just watched a few youtube videos and I was good to good. Couple of things, the easiest way for me to remove the door panels was to start at the top, window fully down, door open, grab the top interior door panel (window channel) where it is suppose to rub against the interior side of the window and pull up and towards you at a 45 degree angle, it will pop right out and then work your fingertips around the outside of the panel. (the clips are really tight the first time). NOTE: They are bolts that need to be removed at the interior door pull and at the bottom of the door panel. I did not unhook the cables for the lock or handle, as it was not needed. Watch a couple of videos and you'll be good.

Nice I am overdue for a speaker upgrade- Dealer says they replaced one of the front door speakers that rattled under warranty and it still rattles-

I checked on the speakers you mentioned on the Crutchfield website and it indicated they would not fit my 23 XLT Maverick hybrid. Am I missing something?

Door panel removal was easy. The Kickers came with a wiring harness that was plug n play and a speaker adapter that matched the door panel speaker mounting holes. Buy from Crutchfield.

Sorry. I made a small mistake. I ordered them directly from Powerbass not Crutchfield. I also have a 2023 xlt hybrid. I just took a pic of the box and here is a link to the fitment guide.

https://powerbassusa.com/us/en/fitment-guide//

Hope this helps. The foam is quite dense so I trimmed it by about half so that there was still firm contact with the door panel.
