Aloha club,

I’ve been in touch with Honolulu ford about my order from end of may and I haven’t gotten any reply on how my order is shaping up. I know it’s always expected to be a longer wait out here but my order slip showed “priority #10”. Does anybody know what that means? Am I going to be waiting for my perfect island truck for months more to come? Hoping my old Toyota Highlander doesn’t tank my trade in value the longer I wait!

thanks!

A couple of guys have received emails with build dates, i believe. So it at least appears as though we won't be left out in the cold when it comes to getting some trucks here at some point.

Wassup!
I placed my order through Randy at Honolulu Ford and also haven't heard from them. The guy doesn't seem to be too responsive since he hasn't returned my call over a month ago. Figured I just wait it out since I did get the confirmation email from ford.com; doubt he has any updated anyhow.

Randy at Honolulu Ford helped me place my order and he has called me about some Mavericks coming in soon. His dealer markup is $5k! I am wondering how high they'll markup our orders once it arrives?

You gonna take it with the 5k markup? It just loses value if that's the case.. Im buying it cause it's affordable.. 5k changes that a little.. or a lot for others..hmm

Check out this thread if you're worried about your dealer trying to stick a $5k or more markup or for that matter and kind of markup. It might worthy if you think your dealer won't honor your MSRP order.

Did you receive a confirmation email from Ford after your dealer placed the order and sign a DORA form?

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, I have received my ford.com email with the tracker for rating to build, etc. I will definitely follow up on that link for the mark up stuff. Yes, $5K is a huge factor int he affordability, but then again, the size of the truck and the hybrid option for the islands is pretty amazing. I had my order first placed by Angel at Honolulu Ford and then I kept getting weird phone calls from them before being transferred to Randy. I am not sure how they are running things there. Maybe better luck to transfer my order to Kailua or somewhere else? Thanks again Gang.

I'd avoid any of these dealers charging above MSRP. Personally, I've never paid MSRP for any vehicle. When I lived in Hawaii I had a few experiences with the dealers and their lies. I remember when shopping for a Jeep Commander. The dealer had an ADM of $10,000 on the only one he had in stock. I laughed at him asking he can't be serious. He went on with with his spiel about how cars cost more in Hawaii. I just walked out. On a trip to the mainland I bought the exact vehicle I wanted, drove it to Long Beach, CA and shipped it over. A second vehicle I bought was from a Los Angeles Nissan dealer, sight unseen. He towed my new vehicle to the port in Long Beach. I never had to leave the state for that one. The cost to ship at that time was a hair over $1000. Assuming the $5000 ADM plus the fact that you can get a vehicle from some dealers at 3 - 4% below invoice, one could save on average $7000. Don't fall for the scam and go where you're treated best.

Dully noted but everyone should make their assessment and choice on the purchase. I can relate to either side.

I'm still waiting to see one in person to make my own call.

Go check out Hoku at Kailua. He seems sincere and wants your business.
