Hi all, I've had my truck (XL AWD 4ktow) for a few months now and I've been averaging maybe 17-18 Mpg unless I am being really easy and then I get about 19 or so. I city drive. I rarely go highways and when I do it's super short and maybe I get like between 21-23. My DTE today shows it's lowest average at about 250 for the tank. I do have a heavy foot so I feel like that and city driving is a big factor but I was curious how everyone has been doing with their mileage counts? My friend gets much better than me but does longer drives, too. Thanks in advance!!

Rural roads not much stop and go. Getting 29 mpg 4k tow. I usually use eco mode not sure how much a difference that makes.

Lehigh Valley sounds like you may be terrain challenged. ;)

My 2023 Lariat Eco Boost did something similar to what you stated. Have been driving short distances for a few weeks. Once I started driving longer 50-60 miles plus the mpg went up to around 30-33mpg. Lots of idling and short hops diminish the mpg rating. Take it for a long drive and check it out. 👍

Krischievous, if I only drove back and forth to work, my mileage would be similiar to yours. I've had in the 18's when I reset the trip and didn't have any highway mileage. Luckily I do get out on the highway often enough to average 24.5mpg overall.

If you want validation your truck can do better, reset the tripometer and hit the highway for a little road trip. See what it averages without any city driving. :)

I’ve got an FX4 ecoboost, with falken wildpeaks. I get 20-22 driving in the city with lots of stop and go. Taking the kids to school, sitting in carpool, go to lunch, etc. I’ve learned the ecoboost doesn’t like cold and it doesn’t like city driving as much as I assumed. However on the highway in the mountains of NC I can get a solid 28 and that’s good enough for me. If I was on flatter terrain headed to the beach I anticipate 29-30. I drive to the mountains for work a fair bit and so I wanted something that would maximize my mileage reimbursements but still be a truck and fun to drive in the city!

Thanks all! I am feeling better about my mileage. Next chance I get I will fill it up and head straight for the highway just to see what he can do!

Driver makes all the difference! I get about 3mpg better than my wife in the Odyssey and Maverick on the same routes.

It's not about how much you mash the gas (I do that way more aggressively than she does) but about how much you BRAKE. Every time you brake it's wasted gas. So watch traffic and left off the gas earlier, coast up to hit lights when they're green instead of red. Anticipate other drivers (to let off gas earlier and drive a little defensively so they're not trying to cut you off).
