So, I haven't got my Maverick yet but thinking about another share key to conceal on truck in case I lose or lock the key inside.

I know we get two keys but I have always had one more made and place on car so I could always get access to it.

My question is if I lock the key inside the XL Maverick can I open the truck from my Ford Pass app on my phone??

In that case I wouldn't need to buy another key, II could always enter truck and be able to drive away.

I am in very remote areas of the back country and having another key is one of the lifelines I like to have just in case.

Yes, you can open door via Ford Pass if you lock your key in the truck. I just got my 24 a few weeks ago and stopped at the gas station, turned truck off and left the key in the ignition not thinking anything of it, came out and it had locked automatically, thank goodness I had my phone in my pocket.

Nice!!!! Do you have an XL model? I wasn't sure if the enter level model had Ford Pass or not or if it even had those features.

So, if that is the case, I should not need to purchase another key.

Thank You!

Every once in a while our work Mavs driver door will lock for whatever reason. The other doors don't, so try them.

While I agree the truck can be unlocked, etc via the fordpass app on your phone. Thats a non issue, however, you mentioned being in the remote back country, so, just remember if your phone doesnt have cell service your out of luck. Also know that now days the electronic type keys in most all vehicles now days are not like the old school days of going to the hardware store and getting another key made for a buck. They are expensive now days and you would need to get a locksmith with the correct tools or the dealer to make another key. Just a thought.

Edit/Update

Check with the guy at Red Neck Garage, he's great and been around awhile on this forum.

No, an XL does not have a keypad enter.

If a key that just opens the door would suffice, get a locksmith to cut a low-tech metal "test" key, like this one.
Ford Maverick With Ford Pass and cell phone question Metal-Key

The bottom interior lip of an opened tailgate works well for hiding the key.

The paper barcode & number that came with your keys might help a locksmith cut the key more easily.

This is good if you lock your keys in the truck, but not if you actually lose the fob/key. It will not start the truck w/o the fob.

Kinda thought so. In the past, used a magnetic key holder, hidden, under a bumper frame, as insurance of lockout, missing key or any other hic cup. Of course, with an electronic key fob, prob it needs be waterproofed If using one of those not sealed magnetic key holders. Might try a small ziplock bag or any kind sealable plastic bag. Like Ozarkbeard posted above.

IDK if this is the same on an XL, but my XLT tailgate locks along with the doors and cannot be opened. Is that different?

You can buy an external keypad for the XL from the Ford Accessories website for $120 plus whatever your dealer charges for programming and installation. That could be another $100 to $250 depending. These are battery operated, not hardwired. A good but expensive option. If you haven’t received your Maverick yet you may be able to add it to your order and maybe get a cheaper install.
