I was standing outside close to the car yesterday and saw something from the corner of my eye dropping from the sky, which was followed by a loud CLANK. I turned to the car and saw rock bouncing off the hood.

We had been bombed by a crow 😞 The car is not even a month old 😕

I like to think the first chip, dent, scratch frees us from a life of worry. Afterwards, we are free to own a TRUCK, which ideally shows lots of signs of use and abuse.

But abuse by a crow, I'd have to process that.

So you are telling me the "they" are now training birds instead of using drones? This was definitely a tactical attempt at maintaining air superiority.

On my travels from Virginia to CA long ago I had a bird rip my antenna off. Scared the crap out of me. Middle of nowhere and that damn dodo decided to b-line straight for me head on.

Probably can pull that out with paintless dent repair and if it's scratched or chipped, touch it up.

I saw probably because it's kind of hard to tell exactly what the dent looks like, if there are scratches etc because it's a bit dirty. (My truck is dirty too.)

I sometimes think new cars should come 'pre dinged' so we don't have to worry about the first ding.
A little story: Before I retired I ran the Land Rover West Coast training center and we would get a new fleet at the beginning of each MY. When our Range Rover hadn't arrived I called the port to find what the holdup was. They said it had a little door ding and was waiting to go to the body shop. I told them to ship it anyway - we use these vehicles for off-road training and although we are careful they invariably need some work at the end of the year be it 'desert pinstriping' or scrapes to the right rear corner! Of course this car made it through the whole year with nothing but the door ding:oops:.

Mavs are just magnets to stuff, I've been doing good about not following to close to prevent rock chips and something still hit off the windshield, lucky not chip that I found yet. Then I had a guy at work clip the tailgate with a pallet on a fork lift, luckily paintless dent removal was a miracle.

The first "door ding" is a STAB IN THE HEART.

Doing my paper route as a kid, a seagull was sitting in the road about 50 feet ahead of me. I was NOT heading at him. He took off, made a 90-degree turn, flew right at me, and dropped a load of crap all over me, my bike and my papers. The 90-degree turn showed that it was clearly intentional. Addendum: I watched The Birds on TV last week, because Tippi Hedron was, and always will be, my heart throb.

I once heard a story about a rancher here in Coastal Bend TX who bought a new Lincoln for the family every year. Legend has it, first thing he would do is load the family up and take a drive through the brush country scratching the all fear of damaging the Lincoln away.

Lol might as well just kick a dent in the driver's door. (Do you believe that story?)
