Zone off road 1 inch leveling kit and Falken wild peak trail 235/65/17 tires are on. Much more of a solid feel but took away any “sportiness” the stock setup provided. Over the last 800 miles, I’ve noticed a 1-2 mpg drop.

I purchased the hybrid maverick shortly before discovering we had to move to a more rural area. I do several miles of muddy roads a day. I almost traded it for a fx4/awd, but I’m really glad I didn’t. For 99% of Maverick users, the hybrid with an at tire/lift kit is all you need for mild off roading. Was able to get up some sandy and muddy dunes near Lake Michigan and have much more confidence on muddy dirt roads now.

After a ceramic coating, ceramic window tint all around, mudflaps, Lasfit switchback turn signals and full Lasfit led kit, + the tire and wheel set up is perfect for what I need.

Ford Maverick Hybrid Maverick with 235 AT tires + 1" Lift Kit for mild off roading ... My Thoughts IMG_9937

Your truck looks great. It is good to hear your having a good time off roading and end enjoying your up grades. This is what i was talking about on the hybrid off road thread.

Sportiness? The Maverick? Were we driving the same truck.

In all seriousness, very nice. I hope this doesn't cause your CV axles to go, the hybrid is known to have that as an issue even with a stock setup!

lol, never understood why people said the maverick is fast. Meant “sportiness” from a truck aspect. It obviously handles better than a full size f150. I traded a 2020 c43 on my maverick. That was a fun little car, just didn’t do as well on 3+ miles of muddy and rut filled roads :)

To me the Maverick is a strange beast. Nicer to drive than a big truck (wheel base, FWD), but with ground clearance you loose stability vs a car in corners. I've found the Maverick to be somewhere in between a RAV4 and a CRV in terms of handling, so I guess in that regard it's got some sportiness to it. :D

my wife has a bronco Sasquatch package. The Maverick obviously handles better than that, but I agree. All the driving I do is on mostly straight and easy roads or around town. For the work I do, it’s perfect. Can do hardware store runs and throw a few hundred pounds of stuff in the back, but I also don’t need the size or capability of a full size truck and bc of that, I can average 40 mpg.

I will replace my OEM tires with 235/17s. As you don't have a straight side view photo, IS THERE MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE APPEARANCE WITH THE LARGER TIRES?

Not very much difference. The lift kit and the A/T tire look itself it what gives it the difference appearance. Even a stock a/t tire would make a huge difference.

Unless you recalibrated your speedo and odometer your mpg hasn’t gone down as much as you think. the larger tires throws them off by about 2%. So 100 miles on odometer is really about 102. And a mpg of say 40mpg is really 40.8mpg.

Really nothing different than normal. It’s moreso the driving dynamics. The steering is much heavier and you feel the weight accelerating and braking.

Truthfully, the mpg is so good, I don’t really care much of the loss. I’m still averaging far better than the ecoboost variant and that during the fill up where I measured, I was also hauling about 600 pounds of stuff in the bed for 60ish miles.

You raise a very fair point tho. I haven’t recalibrated anything yet. I just use apps to track the fuel economy

my wife drives a bronco also and that's why I'm good with my maverick being lowered and even less fit for offroad than it originally was. what is your reason for doing this to your hybrid - do you need to travel 2 track trails or gravel roads in the maverick often? with a bronco, I'd never take a hybrid maverick on anything more than a smooth dirt road.

We swap cars all the time. We live near Lake Michigan in a rural area. Tons of sandy and muddy roads with some gravel areas - I do a few miles a day of them to get to the main road. . For my job, I’m constantly driving. I needed something good in the winter, snow, crappy roads, and was also good on gas bc I’ll do about 40 miles a day of highway driving. I’d never off road the maverick, but the stock tires were so bad on anything other than gravel it meant I almost couldn’t get out of the driveway on rainy or snowy days.

I purchased the hybrid before we knew we would move here and when I lived in a downtown area, when I priced out a new fx4 or AWD/Tremor Maverick or even a newer ranger, the cost to switch wasn’t justifiable to me. So I choose to invest a little in the hybrid. I’m invested far less in this setup than it would have been to make the switch - and I still get great mpg.

that makes perfect sense. getting stuck in one's own driveway, or even just being anxious about the possibility of it, are definitely good reasons to get more aggressive tires.
