I do not view it as a problem. My tranny shifts beautifully as well and I am very pleased with it. Very pleased with the truck as a whole. The intent of my post is it seems Ford, in their desire to improve gas mileage and meet government mandated requirements may have gotten a bit too aggressive in their shift points trying to keep rpm's down.

Now maybe it is just my truck. Maybe I'm the Lone Ranger here and everyone else sees what my wife's Jeep sees and that is 1600 RPM at the same given speed. I do not know. I'm seeing this as more of a curiosity than a problem and wondering what others are seeing and how they feel about it.
I never noticed anything but I'll concentrate s little when driving to see if anything happens like that.

Try using your cruise control all the time. Works for me although our highways are all 55mph, so I cruise at 64mph.

it's not very hilly where I live, and I don't drive 45 too often, especially not sustained it's more city traffic flow. I have not noticed lugging.

you could ask your Ford dealership to reset the learning on the transmission. it's probably not worth a separate service visit, but it couldn't hurt to do it your next oil change or whatever and see if it helps.
Yeah, gonna bring it up when the original oil gets changed at 1500 miles if I decide to take it to a dealer.

also - Ford and GM both use the 8F35, and its related 9 and 10 speed automatics. since Ford chose to maximize fuel economy - GM chose to maximize smoothness - you can get some bogging as it picks a very high gear and the torque converter can lock at low speeds, and stay locked when shifting because it uses internal clutches.

when locking torque converters first were used, it was only done in top gears at highway speeds because the engine could easily bog if the converter wasn't allowed to freely spin at low speed and transitions from low to high load.

as was previously mentioned, if you enable sport mode you're not going to have these types of issues. :) yes - even if you drive very conservatively in sport mode.
Question - sport mode? How is this initiated?

I don’t see anything here quickly, just Ford stuff in general. I will pull manual, see what’s there regarding “sport “ info.
drive mode is a button in the lower center console, rearward of the gear shift knob.

push it repeatedly. fx4 and tremor models do not have sport or eco modes, they have mud/ruts and sand modes instead. you can turn on all modes regardless of trim/option level with Forscan.

the next time you start the truck it'll go back to normal drive mode.

Ah. If you're curious, you could try tow/haul. It selects a lower gear like sport mode.
To be honest I have not even given a second thought to the driving modes since I owned the truck. The other day I drove the truck through 6 inches of unplowed back road and left the truck in Normal. :ROFLMAO: I did remarkably well in that wet crappy heavy snow. Absolutely love this beast.

This transmission "nuance" is just that. I am the least bit upset about it, more curious if others have seen this than anything else.

You guys that also got AWD gotta take your truck out and use the AWD, it is nothing short of remarkable.

AWD system is pretty dang good. I mostly drove in Slippery mode with our storm last week, but I did leave it in Normal mode for one short trip just out of curiosity. It will definitely allow some wheelspin accelerating when compared to Slippery but even still it's so much better than other vehicles I've owned that were using similar all-season type tires.

If you have the intelligent awd screen enabled in a 6.5" driver's cluster (find it with the menu button, 3 horizontal bars) you can watch the awd status. It looked to me like Slippery mode also engages RWD a lot faster and longer than Normal mode when you use light throttle. Which would make sense, if my observation is correct.

Yep. True story. Maybe next time I will remember I have Slippery mode. :ROFLMAO: Gotta say that wet, sticky heavy snow was slicker than snot on a doorknob.

I do have it enabled. I forgot about that too. I'm pathetic. LOL.

Looks like my XLT AWD not has anything of Sport mode.

I see the brake controller adjustment, but not find any tow mode button, setup.

And owning this truck over a month, still learning about it.

you're way left :)

the trailer brake controller is found on trucks with the 4k towing package and it's below the headlamps knob.

the drive mode button is between the center armrest and the shift dial. here's a pic I quickly found, this is a hybrid because you can see the funky slot for parking lot tickets, or whatever. an ecoboost maverick has a different button layout, however, the pic is useful because drive mode is still this upper left button that I marked with a red arrow.

push it and look at the driver's instrument cluster to change the drive modes.

From what I read on other threads is the 4k ones seem to be the ones that shift oddly. The couple threads I found on it are from before model year '23's.
