My ‘24’ Mav Lariat Fx4 has been built but not yet shipped. Definitely want Sport Mode, Eco Mode not so much. Probably not savvy enough to do a ForScan enablement myself but will seek help. Question is- how is Sport Mode selected as there is no switch on the console for it? Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to all readers.

Once Eco and/or Sport modes are enabled in ForScan, the Mode button lets you toggle through all available modes.

Awesome, thanks! Not having my vehicle yet I wasn’t aware how the modes were activated. Can’t wait.

The Ford Maverick™ pickup was built to deliver versatility. So whether you’re navigating city streets, exploring a national park or anywhere in between, you’ll find a drive mode that’s engineered for the terrain you find yourself driving on.

  • Normal: Made for everyday driving, this is the perfect setting for getting around or away.
  • Tow/Haul: This mode ensures you can stay in control while you’re towing and wherever you’re hauling.
  • Slippery: Switch to this mode to take on wet and icy roads with confidence. This mode can also be used for crossing terrain where a firm surface is covered with loose, wet or slippery material. Slippery mode lowers throttle response and optimizes shifting for slippery surfaces.
  • Eco: This mode monitors changes in shifts and speeds, then adjusts the engine and transmission performance to help maximize fuel efficiency.
  • Sport: This mode increases accelerator pedal response and provides a sportier steering feel. The powertrain system holds onto lower gears longer, helping the vehicle accelerate faster.
The available FX4 Off-Road Package gives you access to these additional drive modes, which work by engaging the AWD lock:

  • Mud & Ruts: This mode enhances vehicle performance to traverse muddy, rutted or uneven terrains.
  • Sand: Engage this mode for off-road driving on soft, dry sand or deep snow.

Didn't really answer the question.
Yes, they have modes listed above. Additionally, you can enable Mud&Ruts and/or Sand mode via ForScan.

Note that you get mud & ruts and sand modes at the expense of eco and sport modes. Found that out the hard way.

That's what I was really wondering since it'll be xlt. Thought maybe only selectAble in fx4 or tremor.
I can only assume it's the same in any model as long as you have the ability to select drive modes. Granted, some modes like sand/mud may not be available in the FWD models? I personally disabled sand as it's the same as the mud/rut mode (according to the book and there have been no actual answers of the difference between the two) and only have slippery, sport, mud/rut and normal. This way I only have to press twice to enter slippery mode in winter which is a pretty regular thing.

My 2024 EB Lariat FX4 is in production now. I've read a good bit about enabling Eco and Sport modes and am eyeing this as one of my first FORSCAN mods. But before I do this, I wondered if anyone identified any downsides of doing so? Yes, I know one obvious response is that Sport mode will drink more gas, but presumably Ford chose to keep Sport and Eco off the FX4 drive mode menu for a reason.

I know that to get these two modes active, part of the ABS system is deactivated, and I recall reading somewhere that this specific ABS functionality might be used to induce/control fishtailing in the FX4 specific modes (Sand and Mud/Ruts), which presumably improves the performance of those modes.

So, has any one seen/documented the impact of the ABS change on those two (or any other) modes and are those impacts meaningful?

Yeah I've been reluctant to activate eco and sport only because there may be hardware stuff affected that's related to fx4 that we don't know about. It's not a horrible loss. I also don't want to give the dealer an excuse to deny a warranty claim if there is some drive train issue.

Okay, so someone else is questioning this too. I'm not as worried about a warranty claim, but the saying goes that "there is no such thing as a free lunch." I guess I'm thinking that the minor change to the ABS system needed to get Sport and ECO active could degrade the performance of the FX4 specific modes.

Sorry to bother you but will ForScan work with a Mac computer?
