an update on other Mav driver,
Thank you. Glad to hear it sounds like she'll be physically okay, though she'll obviously be missing and mourning her dog.

What are the odds of two Mavericks being in the same wreck, when just seeing them on the road is a rarity?! Glad to hear wife and dog are ok, but no one mentions the trauma by such a bad accident that can haunt one for years afterwards. As for getting another Maverick . . . let me put it this way . . . would you be happy with anything other than the Mav? Blessings to you both and here's to moving past with gratitude. Your Thanksgiving will be particularly special this year.

Well, yes, I'd love a Ford suite. Mustang, Maverick, Ranger, F-150, F-450, Expedition, ... essentially any and all current models would be fine. Got a few hundred grand laying around? 😉 But in all seriousness, the Maverick makes the most sense for my current net worth and combo of needs. And I just like it.

Crazy. Keep your Mavs safe everybody, mine was parked away from things and just dented here at work by the forklift, sheesh. Glad nobody was injured in this wreck. I do think I'll do that LED side marker/emblem mod, it seems like there are a lot of side impacts on the Mav.

This couldn't be further from the truth if you tried.

Secured means not able to move around. Seated. Yes, airbags are meant for humans but if they are secured, they are not flying anywhere. All it takes is one bump, jolt or evasive action and hard braking to send a dog in the bed to their death.

Secure your pet.
While I don't advocate any unrestrained pets, I do know that airbags have horribly killed a lot of pets in low speed accidents. Most the dogs that ride in the back of trucks in my area are in rural areas without incident. Pets free-roaming in the cabin are definitely more problematic. That was my point.
Ask a tow truck driver, they'll likely have a few stories.

Alas, it is with great sorrow I report that while my wife was en-route for some errands, she was struck and my beautiful 2023 Atlas Blue Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid was destroyed.

She was going 55 mph and the guy pulled out almost in front of her, striking passenger doors and sending her into a spin into a line of traffic waiting to turn left into the road she was passing. Unfortunately, it was a triple tragedy. The vehicle waiting first in line was another 2023 White Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid. Both were totaled. The 2002 Acura RL that pulled out and initially struck my wife was also totaled. It was a triple tragedy because the owner of the white Maverick was transported via ambulance and, unfortunately, her canine friend was killed on impact.

My wife is OK, as is my dog. It handled very well in the crash and protected all occupants as well as could be. Pictures should follow tomorrow when I visit the tow yard. I am heartbroken. 13,297 mi was the final odo reading with average MPG at 51.1, never reset from when I took ownership January 9th this year.

Question of the year: should I plan on getting a new one exactly like it? We were absolutely in love.

Here are the photos. I've about decided to get a new Lariat, same color, with more options.

What a shame, so many terrible drivers nowadays! Glad you're wife is ok, Mavericks do very well in crash test safety. Why B4 my Maverick I never bought a brand new vehicle.

Let me know if you need any help with that install. Difficulty level: easy. You shouldn't have any trouble doing it, but just know I'm happy to help in any way.

I'm sorry to hear of this accident. What are the odds of two Mavericks involved in the same wreck? I've had mine for a month and a half and have only seen three others total on the road since then.

Mine received minor damage from a piece of scrap metal that blew out of a truck this week. Almost made me cry. Can't imagine it being totaled.

Not sure if this helps any, but here in ky, if the vehicle is totaled, there might be a clause where you can get it back and attempt to have it repaired. Only catch is the title will state totaled but salvaged/rebuild. Had a Carthage went thru something like this except it was in a parking lot. The young lady was using the empty lot as a drive thru, plowed into the back door on driver side. Damage the car and her insurance company paid the remainder of my payments off, got me a check for 2k and had to turn in my plate till I could get the car road worthy. Owed 7k on car, when it was all over 4k back on the road, looks almost new. Still driving it 8 years later, planning on using it as a trade for my maverick xlt when it gets built.

Same here. Big believer in used vehicles and never thought I'd own a new one, especially in my 20s! Mav changed my mind.

Oh, I know, trust me. I follow these forums and never thought I would be one of the ones making this post! And I had an incident in late September driving on the beach in Daytona Beach (I fully regret not getting photos) where a Sheriff's Office Maverick pulled out in front of me to do a U-Turn. I quipped to the wife that if I ever hit anybody, at least it better not be a Maverick. 🙄

Salvage works similarly in Georgia. I would not get 120% of vehicle value from insurance if I did, though. Better to upgrade to a Lariat, I think.

Sorry to see this but am glad your wife is okay and that the Maverick kept her safe. Hope you are able to get a new Maverick soon. Prayers to all involved.
