Thankful there was minimal passenger compartment intrusion. Likely what saved your wife and dog from injury or worse.

@rJay did you see the white XLT in the same tow yard by chance? Or the at fault vehicle? I'd be curious to see the damage to all involved vehicles.
I did, in fact, see it. It was actually a white Lariet. I did not, however, grab photos of the other vehicles. I'm actually a cop in this jurisdiction, so I'm in the lot from time to time. If I am back that way and it's still there, I'll drop a photo here.

Alas, it is with great sorrow I report that while my wife was en-route for some errands, she was struck and my beautiful 2023 Atlas Blue Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid was destroyed.

She was going 55 mph and the guy pulled out almost in front of her, striking passenger doors and sending her into a spin into a line of traffic waiting to turn left into the road she was passing. Unfortunately, it was a triple tragedy. The vehicle waiting first in line was another 2023 White Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid. Both were totaled. The 2002 Acura RL that pulled out and initially struck my wife was also totaled. It was a triple tragedy because the owner of the white Maverick was transported via ambulance and, unfortunately, her canine friend was killed on impact.

My wife is OK, as is my dog. It handled very well in the crash and protected all occupants as well as could be. Pictures should follow tomorrow when I visit the tow yard. I am heartbroken. 13,297 mi was the final odo reading with average MPG at 51.1, never reset from when I took ownership January 9th this year.

Question of the year: should I plan on getting a new one exactly like it? We were absolutely in love.

Here are the photos. I've about decided to get a new Lariat, same color, with more options.

I’m glad eveeyone is mostly OK, sorry to hear about the doggo. Good reminder to securely crate your pups…
Thanks for the advice. Probably will!

Thanks, but she's not at fault. She wasn't cited, driver 1 was. She was driver 2 of 3. There aren't gag orders on accidents. I do accident investigations as part of my job. Now, if she was at fault, I'd understand trying to remain silent, etc. to minimize damage to oneself, but she wasn't. She was hit by someone while diving along through a non signaled intersection and the fellow failed to yield, struck the trucks right side, sending her into a spin, and the left rear quarter panel struck the other Maverick that was coming the other way head on.

Driver 1 was ticketed X3.

I'm still out and about dealing with particulars. I have the photos, will post when home.
The other guy was right, fault doesn’t matter, you making clear statements could be used to deny payment for medical for your wife. Welcome to America. Insurance companies suck.

And I’d be shocked if she’s 100% fine after an impact like that.

Well said - and totally agree. Being a victim doesn't take away any rights. But probably be smart not to comment on injuries....vehicle damage is clear cut but human injury is never immediately known.

Ford Corporate and dealerships should put priority to help accident victims get replacement Mavericks since most have to wait so long. Especially priority of cancelled orders.

1. They're offering me market value at mileage (slightly more than what MSRP was!) + 20%.
2. No. Part of the 20% extra deal is they salvage it.

She is not 100% fine, and saying she's generally OK on an internet forum post as opposed to dead wouldn't hold up to actual medical evidence of problems, particularly if I posted prior to some appointments. I'm not saying folks haven't been burnt before, but this is pretty solid and she was injured. Doesn't mean she's not OK. Relative term.

Thanks all for your concerns! Means a lot!

Glad your wife is okay. Praying the driver in the white Lariat pulls through.

You'd be amazed at how sh!tty insurance companies can be. I've had to fight them before over an accident, it was a real pain in the back... I won the dispute, but it was a massive hassle. But you're probably also right that a statement so close to the accident would be read in relative terms, too.

Did you decide on a color for the new one?

Also, dang, +20%, amazing.

Oh my! That's horrible!!! I was completely stopped at a red light and I got rear ended by a drunk driver who was driving a stolen vehicle going over 55mph. Wrote off my Maverick and had over $38k worth of damages.
The guy had an open arrest warrant on his name from previous charges, has a suspended license, wasn't wearing his seat belt, busted the windshield with his face and ran off on foot. This was 3 months ago and he still hasn't been found.

Probably Atlas Blue again, only this time an optioned-out Lariat with moon roof, black appearance, etc. Basically what I wanted the first time and settled for. I have the cash, life is short!

Oh my goodness, that's terrible! I hate hit and runs so much! I've investigated some and believe me, they are the worst. Glad you're OK.

How long did it take to reach settlement?

I owned it outright, so no. I have no idea why I even posed that question. I was tired, upset, etc. No question I am replacing with another!

That's good to hear, I mean about the insurance. Hopefully your wife recovers quickly and easily.

To those with loose animals in their vehicles: Always secure them. No good reason they should be free roaming or on your lap. Drives me nuts where I live seeing dogs in the bed of trucks so casually.

Out of curiosity, what insurance were you using if you care to disclose that info? From your description is seems like they have pretty much finalized the investigation.

And this is why I carry self defense... Seen too many folks involved in accidents go to check on the involved parties and become victims. One recently where a local guy was shot while investigating a vehicle that went off the road, his truck stolen and the person in question is still on the loose. Apparently had priors in 3 surrounding states.

Had 2 claims in last 2 yrs. If things go slow or down hill with claims person, I simply ask him or her - "My attorney wants to know the phone number and person who he should call regarding my claim." That question has helped expedite by claim timely and reasonable dollar amount of payment both times.
