  • Tires have to be matched. If you blow one with semi-worn tread, you now bought an entire set
  • Less mpg
  • More complexity, things to break

Lots of bad reasons to go AWD IMO

And I drove FWD in the NE for a decade
More traction on slippery roads, Bad, Bad, Bad😡

Amazingly I also drove FWD cars in FL as well.

Generally you need traction to stop, not accelerate, when roads are slippery. My experience anyway. That's something that AWD doesn't help with.
I never knew 2 tires were better than 4🧐
Thanks 😊

The engines power is also split between 2 axles to take it's load. So it can increase longevity.

And the slightly different amount of treadwear make less of a difference to an making a turn and can be adjusted with air pressure.

Just saying.

It does in trail control mode. Or slippery mode. Or any of the modes. Maybe not towing but possibly.

My wife’s 2019 FWD 2.0 Ecoboost Escape
can spin the front tires all the way through first and half way through second on dry pavement if you want to. Sadly, this doesn’t improve on wet or slippery pavement. I will say I did have a C-Max that got much better traction on wet and dry roads. My AWD Maverick (waste of money) will accelerate so much better on dry and slippery roads than her Escape and still gets better fuel economy. Now to be fair, the Escape is a 6 speed auto instead of a 8 speed like the Maverick.

Better colors would be great . Cyber orange is great and alto blue . Most colors now are very plain. Hot pepper red is the only stunning color left in my opinion.
HPR is nice looking, and I am an Atlas Blue Metallic guy, but I'd like to see a red similar to First Edition, Eruption Green for sure, maybe a military like green like Ranger Splash just had (wouldn't be surprised to see a Splash style package), maybe an actual orangey color (Grabber maybe).

I heard we're getting a Maverick Sport Trac, where instead of chopping off the roof and adding a bed like they did in the Explorer, they're gonna chop off the bed and turn it into an SUV instead
They did, it's called a Bronco Sport :)

Before they go off and start building more variants how about getting the folks that have been waiting for months and years the variants they ordered.

I'm totally not joking slap a transit connects backside on my Tremor and I will go rob a bank tomorrow at dawn to pay for it. Removable would be sweet and being born a custom vanner that is sooo much a long plotted dream of mine, but even the solid shell would be great, in 20 years I will cut a hole in it and slap on a Italian ragtop.
Actually the original C2 platform plan included a C2 based Transit Connect replacement for the North American market that would be built along side the BS/Maverick in Hermosillo. Europe has a different Transit Connect replacement that could not be imported anymore.

But Ford cancelled that vehicle because they didn’t believe enough would sell in the North American market. Big mistake in my opinion. I think they would have sold plenty, both retail and commercial, especially with the hybrid.

And the whole point of this thread sounds like they are pivoting, fingers crossed. It would really make me go in over my head and buy 2 new vehicles.

I'm with you on both. ST would be a definite if it came with a stick, paddle shifters would be a definite maybe, neither would be a pass.
I doubt we will ever see a stick shift Maverick but I agree about the paddle shifters. At least something to shift manually would be nice. I had a 2012 RAM that could do it via pushing the gear selector left/right and I miss it so much. I don't even think they bothered to give the Escape ST's paddle shifters. Such a shame. I'm not a fan of Sport mode but I do have it on my EB. It's nothing close to how I would shift if I could.

"Ford Blue is rolling out new derivatives of its iconic nameplates, which are hugely popular with customers and generate superior revenue and margins. They include the forthcoming Ranger Raptor pickup, Mustang GTD super-car and track variants, and new extensions of the Bronco and Maverick nameplates."

They can't even get me the base model 2023 I ordered more than a YEAR ago without striping away the manual rear sliding window and the 400W inverter for 2024.
And they want to now ADD more crap to their imaginary trucks?

I mean, no points for guessing this one. Model refresh upcoming and Maverick are still built-to-order for the most part. Why not offer more options?
