I ordered my 2023 Maverick from a huge dealer (proclaimed to be the largest volume Ford dealer in the world). I knew that this dealer has a $1295 dealer fee. I also knew that this dealer accepts the X Plan. It limited their ridiculous dealer fee to $100.

Huge dealer = greater number of allocations
X Plan = not paying a ridiculous dealer fee

I'm a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, a Ford Partner organization. That is how I got an X Plan PIN.

I had never dealt with this tiny dealer here (I was the only Hybrid order for a 2022 or 2023) so I didn't know what to expect. They were great, and my 2024 (newly ordered in 7/17/23) is already scheduled for November. Maybe I am generating my allocation...

I have never heard of an "X Plan" what is that? Is it a Ford thing? Did it need to be done when ordering or can it be fine even it comes in?

Thanks!!!
There are also some x-plan rules that include your agreement to keep the vehicle for at least 6 months. It is a toothless rule for YOU, because Ford can't do anything to YOU, but they do track it and can deal with your sponsor, whether that is a person or a club.

It is a Ford thing. It can be done at pickup, but you have to have ordered through a dealership that honors X-Plan pricing. If you have you just need to ensure that you are enrolled 90 days prior to delivery of the vehicle and you bring the generated pin number with you to do the paperwork. Like most said its biggest advantage is limiting dealership fees to $100. The actual discount may be the same or smaller than Military, Farm Bureau, Recent Grad, etc; and they cannot be combined.

Easy to Google...or search here as to how to get qualified...but the bottom line is that the dealer can agree or refuse. Since I knew about it beforehand, that was the first question for my dealer...would they accept X-plan. I'd have gone down the road if the answer was no. Not a lot of incentive for a dealer to agree if you spring it on them at delivery...but I suppose it would be possible.

They updated the fordpartner website and now x-plan price shows up. Before it was only available if you had your dealer print the dora to reflect x-plan pricing.

The pricing on fordpartner website is generic and doesn't reflect total discount if you add options. Generally, with x-plan, more add-ons give you a bigger discount.

Formula:

Dealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee*

Some important details is that it limits doc fee to $100 which can be substantial depending on your dealer. I believe it also prevents dealer from putting an added dealer mark-up.

My small-town dealer told me on the front end that they would NOT accept X Plan pricing for Mavericks, Broncos and the eMachs. So, my options were to stick with them or find another dealer that would accept it. Back in July no one knew how long the order books would stay open, but this dealer was selling at MSRP and agreed to give me one of their 15 Maverick allocations. On top of that their doc fees are reasonable. As has been previously stated the difference between MSRP and invoice is pretty low on these trucks, so I see how X-Plan eats into their profit. In the end I felt that their approach was fair, so I elected to stick with them. Was my decision right or wrong?? I'll probably never know for sure. But... I do have late Nov build date for my AWD Lariat, so I'm going to declare that karma says it was right.

When I checked in with Ford chat they were not sure and said to check with the dealer. Either way with the private offer and Farm Burear rebates I should get about 3K off MSRP on the 24 Lariat Hybrid.
True i did save another 150.00 in doc fees due to xplan.

I ordered/bought my 2023 with X-Plan. It is a loaded Lariat with BAP. X-Plan saved me exactly $865, but more than that, it dropped my dealer's $599 DOC fee to the $100 cap. Thus X-Plan saved me $1364 and they gave me no bs add-ons.

I ordered my yet-to-arrive 2024 with X-plan (similar loaded Lariat with BAP) and X-plan saved me only $570 PLUS the $499 DOC fee reduction...so it is only worth $1069 off this year.
What is BAP ?

$1295 is one of the largest I have ever heard for a doc fee. Absolutely insane for a pure dealer profit fee.

Sure beats the $10,000 over MSRP that the Asheville, NC Ford dealership charged me for my 2023 Hybrid XLT!

Ordered my truck (which I got on 10/13 after 13. Months) using X-Plan for being a Mustang Club of America member. Have to get a PIN and bring proof of being a member (membership card) and it had to be ordered X-Plan which my truck was. My dealer did it because I used to work for them for 23 years so no issues there.

Here is my original DORA, showing all the plans and MSRP of my truck from Sept 15 2022 at 4:37 pm EST (banks opened at 4:30 so it took a few minutes to get it all ordered and printed). Not a huge discount, but a discount all the same, but it's the limiting of the dealer DOC fee that makes X-Plan worth it, IF your dealer has an exorbitantly high DOC fee. Doc fee in Pennsylvania is almost $500, so that saved me nearly $400. Overall a simple easy deal. And yes, dealers don't have to accept it. I know around my area, no one was doing it as far as I know.
